talking about tint...
im schedualed to get my max tinted on Wednesday...
Im really lost here cuz i dont know the whole percentage system when it comes to tint.. we use 0/0 (lightest), 0/1, 0/2, 0/3, and so on...

Im looking for a dark look, dark enough to look solid black at night, but only a little dark in the morning.

ive been given the options of
5% (limo dark) - not what i wanted
approx 25% supposed to be dark but too dark for night time
approx 35% this is what the guy recomended but it looks too light to me

05MaxiMaMenG, maxmale, and anyone else with tint AND pics....
what percentage do u have on, and how is it driving at night?

most go with 35% meaning 35% of light can pass through. any darker will make night driving too dark. can he go 30%? what are your tint laws? I can't tint the front 3 windows at all w/o fines.

i asked about the tint laws here in PA.. apparently the only legal tint is that which comes from the manufacturer...

but anyway... never stopped me from tinting back home and it wont stop me here eaither...

does anyone have a pic of 35%??? id like to see what a fullly tinted 35% would look like.. except front windsheild ofcourse.

Driving in the dark is no problem. I've got the auto-diming mirrors turned on and they still respond and get darker so plenty of light gets through at night. I can take the same pic later on. It'll be dark in a couple of hours so I'll send it to you then.

BTW: I used to have a Camaro with 20% on the sides and 15% on the back. I had no problem seeing out of that at night either.

Lumar tint film, 35% all around. If your interrior is dark the tint looks darker too, especially at night.

My car has black leather, look at my sig and see if you think that's dark enough for you.

I had 5% in the back windows of my integra. Driving at night was still possible. You just have to get used to seeing headlights only (nothing else).

However, I have since removed it and gone with 50% around. Much better IMO. No hassle from cops, it blocks the UV rays, and you can see clearly at night.

I have to take new pix of my car during the day, but i have 5% in the rear and 35% in the front. Thats with the titanium film though. If you get the cheap tint that has a purple hue or blue hue, itll be darker. So make sure you get good tint or high quality tint. You know what they say, "You get what you pay for"

Night driving: i can see through the front windows but have difficulty seeing through the back windows when i turn to look over my shoulder. People can still see my figure and see what im doing when they look in the front windows. The auto dimming mirror doesnt dim anymore becuase not enough light is gettin through the back window for it to dim, so i turned it off.

thanks for all the input and pics guys..

ive been quoted for $250 (both sides and back). for this price, the tint better be good!

5% is too dark (i want to stay with 1 shade only)

im thinking the 25% all around the car...

your thoughts?

At that price, you can expect a lifetime warranty against all defects (purpling, bubbling, anything). Ask the tint shop, and make sure you get it down in writing. Also find out the brand of tint film they are using because it better be really high quality.

If you can do 25% all the way around without getting bothered by the cops, I say go for it. I would have gone darker with mine but considering I have a black car with a black interior plus the cops here love to bother folks about stupid stuff, my safest bet was to go with what I've got.

I got pulled over for tint twice with cars I had before. Never got a ticket though because according to the meter my tint wasn't dark enough to warrant a ticket. However, I have friends that did get tickets for their tint. Their only option was to have the tint removed or risk getting more fines.

The place that did my tint in Maryland offered me the option of paying an additional $100.00 so that if I did get ticketed, they would remove the tint and redo it using a lighter percentage. So, yes the cops will pull you just for tint and fine you if they can. You won't get points though because it is not considered a moving violation.

just make sure they don't tint over the dot matrix at the top of the rear window. the retards that did my tints went over it and it looks like ****. it sticks in some places and doesn't in others. so it looks like i have streaks on my window if you come close enough. i have to go back and get that redone sometime soon.

Dayummmm $250 bones?!?!?!? thats alot of money for tint. That better be like full titanium solar guard film and shiet like that. I only paid $150 for the 7 windows with lifetime warranty and all that goodies.
On the situation with the cops, i dont think they give fix it tickets anymore, any modifications done to the car is a citation. But i could be wrong or that could just apply to engine modifications. I know for a fact that for a modified exhaust you get a citation not a fix it. This is Southern Cali BTW.

Well in a way, that's kind of the point. Us cali folks have to make it look like theres no tint up front or its a fatty ticket from the CHP
