"We are well aware of the personal hardship...

and financial difficulty created by the recent disaster in your area."

Thats the way the letter from Nissan MAC starts that I got today. Its basically a form that allows me to extend my payment one month because of the "recent disaster in my area." I live in North NJ. What recent disaster? I dont watch the news much, but Im sure I would be aware of a disaster in my area Anyone else get this?

Wow, interesting! The only thing I can think of is the recent flooding along the Deleware in the Trenton area. Apparently there were record breaking floods up that way. I've never heard of this letter before.

You try to extend your payment and you'll wake up to your car missing in the morning

I used to get these all the time with my previous car loan. Basically, you extend the payment period by 1 month and incur the extra interest over the life of the loan. Its just a way for the company that made the loan to make more money in interest. Its not really a "scam" per se, but it does end up costing you more money in the long run.

I used to get those all the time as well for x-mas or 'being a good customer' and they tack on a $50 "processing fee" in addition to the additional interest.
