I see a lot of them on different tool websites and Harbor Frieght is the cheapest with the 3 claw type. Is it cool to use one of those? This will be used on the front end.

The bearings are pressed out not pulled, there really tight. Your almost better off taking the hub to a shop and letting them press the old ones out and press the new ones back in. Probably cost you less then the tool.

Hmmmm...OK. I just don't want them to try to charge me out the **** to do something like this.

Trust me, you're not going to be able to do the bearings with one of those pullers.. they need a hydraulic press..

the last time I paid someone to do my wheel bearings, it cost me $20 to press them in.

pull the spindle off the car and take them a new wheel bearing, dust seals, and the spindle, and ask them to press them in for you.


Also remember that quite often you have to replace the wheel hub as well, as the bearing ruins the wheel hub when it fails.. make sure you either have a new one available, or a spare spindle with a good wheel bearing in it ready to go. (usually I just buy a spindle from the junkyard and remove the wheel hub from it. it's about 1/2 the price of a new hub from the dealer).

Yep, I let my bearings go for so long that my hub was all scored up. Did not prepare for that so I didn't have another hub to use. Turned a day project into a 3 day one trying to get a new hub. You can't get an aftermarket one from Napa, only from Nissan or a slavage yard. I went and bought a whole steering knuckle from a junkyard for like $50 (too much IMO). Once I had it apart the junk yard hub was not in too much better shape than the one I took out.....put it in anyhow because I needed my car up and running again. About a year later I am getting some bad bearing type noise and I think it is the same hub. Anywho, just get a new hub from Nissan if you need to replace it.
