The post says it all. My tranny is having problems and I just want to get a newer tranny. So anyone who has done this I'd appreciate any info you can give. Thanks

Dont know if you have an auto or 5speed but auto tranny from 00-01 will NOT fit in 4th gens because some of the harnesses are different. Who ever has attempted the swap had quite a few CELs to deal with.

Now if you need a 4th gen auto tranny I got 2 for sale

I have a manual. I just need a new one. So I can just take the off my current tranny and directly bolt up the new tranny? The only other thing I know I need for sure is the axle for the driver side of the car from a 00-01.

Does anyone know if the 00-01 axle will fit on the passenger side also? When I do this I will be getting raxle axles to upgrade.

I'm pretty sure that it's a direct bolt-on and lots of guys have already done it. Some experience small issues (speedo related), some also got some cel's but other than that most of what I know about the swap is that its pretty much a bolt on.

Manual is a direct bolt on. I know the shifter goes either a little front or back. I was talking about auto before . Sorry for the confusion.

if you have an STS a 5th gen tranny with bring the shifter back into the stock location. The STS's I have had always pushed the shifter a little forward so a 5th gen tranny will location back near the stock location.

Well it looks like I might be trying to buy a new tranny sooner than I thought. Because I think that the oil seal gasket has cracked. My car is leaking oil and from what I checked it's not from my engine oil. I have also noticed that it is getting hard to put the car in 1st, 2nd, and reverse and different times. In replacing the tranny what all should I replace along with it (with regards to gaskets and what not)?

Oh one other thing, Do the I30 trannys have the same problems our maxima trannys have with bad bearings? Would this also be a good alternative?
