I'm REALLY wanting to get one ofthese puppies for my 4th gen...I am just a little bit too poor right now. They should last a decently long time, I would htink, as they are coated.

Do you have any other exhaust mods?

The panel filter adds no horsepower, it's primary benefit is reusability. I had the K&N panel, didn't really make a difference. I now have a JWT POP cone filter. Now, this *may* make 4hp, but it's just a *maybe*.

I think this cheapskate is gonna pay for the install

I have a B-pipe and y-pipe to install on my 97 Max. I got two bolts off with no problem. The other two on the b-pipe are frozen, rusted, and on too damn tight. I soaked it with Liquid Wrench over night, hammered the bolts, and used a heat gun. I went at it this morning and the bolt started bending instead of turning. I started sawing away at it, but it was taking too long. I had an estimate at a local indepent Nissan shop for $90 for the install of the y-pipe and b-pipe. I'm gonna take it them as soon as I get my car smog checked. I figured if I saw off the two bolts for the b-pipe, I'm still gonna be screwed trying to get the y-pipe bolts off.

Turbo did a great series on the 2000 maxima SE.
The test was done on the air filter before they did anything else. It should a 4 hp increase over stock air filter and 4.4 hp increase with no air filter. Turbo then did add a HKS muffler and exhaust pipe that gave a 5.2 hp increase on the dyno.
Turbo tried nitrous, a Turbo, and a Supercharger.

Not to take the side of a "newbie" (god forbid)...
But why would Turbo mag LIE about the results they got from installing a K&N filter??
Do you really think K&N gives them a kickback or something?
I highly doubt it...

You throw out statements. Have you tried these items on a dyno? do you posses hard facts to support your foolish claims?

You cant help yourself?
You are a weak minded fool.
Dont responed unless you can back it with solid facts.

I tested a K&N air filter with my G-Tech Pro a few weeks back. I first did 3 tests under the exact same circumstances, same place same time etc, My first 3 runs were with a almost new Nissan Airfilter, the times I got were all with in .05 seconds of each other, I then did a quick swap with a brand new K&N air filter and did 3 more runs the results were about .03 slower on Average then the runs I did with my OEM air filter. I know these the .03 lose may have been from driver error but all my runs were with in a few hundreths of each other. So in closing, a K&N air filter definatly does not make any noticable difference what so ever. BTW I read the article in the mag and I do believe it did add 4 HP, but was the comparison tests a dirty used OEM filter VS a Brand new K&N filter? If the answer was yes then the 4 HP was achived becuase the original filter was dirty.

In a SC system 4 hp is not going to make any difference that you can feel. The percentage of increase of horse power is almost nill around 1 %. The test on turbo doesn't state the condition of the old filter. They did dyno tests in a lab condition. Not with a stop watch at there favorite drag spot.... "" how do you like the dvd alpine? What kinda 1/ mile times do you get wiyh a SC?
