Maxima.org member use

I know that the US Open was on TV today, but it strikes me that member usage is down a fair bit on the weekend relative to during the week. That leads me to believe that a lot of members are on the .org when they are at work or at school.

Is there any truth to this belief? Perhaps a moderator or two could chime in on when peak usage is overall on the .org, ie. any particular day of the week, any particular time of the day (say Eastern time).

Feel free on when you are most inclined to use the .org and if, in fact, you should be doing something else.

If this query is considered OT or irrelevant, please delete.

I'm on usually only at work, and rarely on weekends unless i have a little free time, much just like today. My work access to the address forums.maxima.org is actually blocked, but I found a backdoor around that by going thru norcal.maxima.org.

I'm on it alot at work also....I work nights and have computer access, so why not?

But I have noticed, the OT forums are busiest during the day. I think alot of people check it out during the daytime.

I usually ocme on when I am really bored and got nothing to do...like right now. I'm not tired and my car isnt healthy enough to go out and do delinquent things hahaha. also when I have a problem and need info. I use to come on more, but the 4th gen section has gotten so embarassing that its not worth it.

Murdoch im almost exclusively on when im at work. for 8-12 hr streaches...that explains my post count relative to my join date

Once my degree goes to use and I have a 'real' job...I dont think ill have this much time to post...but the weekends are when I am available to be on the most because I work them consistantly. Holy crap Polak 80 hrs a week!?
Im thinking im gonna keep this job on sundays (bc its dead and all I do is surf the net) for a little added cash when I get a 9-5 somewhere else...for a little bit.

It's true for me. I'm a grad student, so I spend a lot of time in the lab or in front of a computer (when I'm not out in the field). Hopping onto the .org is a nice diversion. I'll typically sign-on for few minutes several times a day.

Great for 10 minute breaks!

I try to comne on at least once a day for atleast an hour. It is sumer time people are working more, doing the repairs/maintinance/mods they couldnt do in the winter time, plus is summer head out side take a cruz, hit the track, BBQ, etc. I still am on hard and when I get back to school in day and am back on the T1 instead of this 56K then I will be on here a lot more.

I can't check the .org out at work because I work retail...there's always something to do. It wouldn't be too good if I was standing in the computer dept. not doing any work. I'm always on at home, and because I only work 25-30 hours per week I have a lot of spare time...I just work and come home, that's my exciting life! Living in the country, there's not much else to do.

I'm usually on when I wake up (on my days off) and in the evening too. I don't log on very late though because I work mornings starting anywhere from 6am to 9am so I need my sleep!

Weekends the car is getting worked on or driven if nice weather, no .org surfing unless looking for a solution. When I do log on, the time spent on is related to new/updated threads. If it's the same old y-pipe and altezza threads my visit can be breif . . .

I'm a full-time (broke@ss) grad student... so I'm on the .Org whenever I need a diversion or am procrastinating... I do need to cut my .Org hours down big time though...

Most users ever online was 778, 12-13-2004 at 11:01 PM.

I'm guessing that Monday was the first day of winter break?

I'm online @ work.

It would be interesting to know if the mods could somehow clean up the membership list so they could get a handle of how many "active" members there are. I am not sure if that would also facilitate the effective operation and maintenance of the website.

Instead of taking a 15 minute smoke break every couple hours, I jump on the Org. Plus my work T-1 connection is a plus for some of the bigger file threads.
