Unfortunatly that was when I discovered the Max can be modded. Before that it was intended as a family car and my wife took off shortly after F&F so I was free to hook her up, glad I still waited a while though and read up on here first.

Remember when the 4th gen was on the cover of Car and Driver? I do, it only took me four years later to get one, didn't know about this site back then though, didn't have the money to do any mods anyway. Not that I do now either, but every time something breaks I certainly upgrade.
[edit] oh yeah, the 5 spd got a 6.7 sec 0-60

uncle sprinty never owned me. Love ya sprinty

no one had MAF problems(thanks nissan)

brake rotors didn't warp on a brand new car after 15K(thanks again nissan)

coilpacks lasted longer then the spark plugs(thanks again nissan, do we see a pattern here)

4th Gens still RULE, Once i sell my Z i'll be on the lookout for a 99SE-L Crimson Blaze.

Emax had the first NZ headers, and they were black.

No one cared about LED's.

mecca had his first car, a 95/6 pebble beige GLE ...

Motor Trend does Import Car of the Year.

Car and Driver does the Ten Best.

And there's no way any transmission can make 300hp at the wheels out of 190 at the crank.

I miss my old 97 SE 5speed. The Bose I miss the most. They REALLLLY saved some pennies with the sound system in the 5th gen.

Well pick something else, the Bose in my 5spd and most other Nissans I know of is messed up, sometimes they play CD's sometimes they don't.
The speaker placement is good though. I could do without the hassles of the head unit. As they say "no highs, no lows, must be bose"

When everyone was freaking out about 4th gen manual tranny shims/bearings and motorvate.ca saw a lot of traffic.

When Mecca was drawing up the blueprints for his twin turbo

(I was going to go with when DBM was around and 'when I owned a maxima', but those are played out already)

Remember when......

....Lime started NEMAXIMA
...."Pinky" was one of the more popular maximas on here
....everyone could use the search function
....Jambo owned the site
...."donkey" was just an animal
....3rd gen owners believed 3rd gens were better than 4th gens
........oh wait, they still do.

...when required first mods seemed to be intake, FSTB and clear corners, Y-pipe was up there too lol.
I could almost always identify another maxima.org member because i would see the clear corners. most of the time anyway

I also remember when the site would be down all the time cause of too many people on the site, but it was worth it because everyone on here was mature, took no BS and for the most part were real enthusiasts.

Now its "how big of a dub can i fit" or "where can i gets some of doz tyte altezzas foo!" or people asking what kind of gas they should put in the Max? Questions like that used to get you shot.

Yup, March 1999 I drove it home from the Nissan dealer. It has snowed lightly the night before, pissed me off, the dealer didn't wipe it down for me.

Remember when........
  • the 4th gen forum was filled with great threads on new mods etc..... now it's just, "How do I fix this?"
  • CE was still in business and thought their 95/96 red/clears would be the hottest thing since sliced bread? Bububackfire.
  • RedlineMax was in business
  • MEVI's were fetching $600...
  • You had to donate to be able to search
  • Donkey thought he owned OT
  • There was an OT "raw" inside of OT where a password was required

sigh OT raw ftw

two words: Craig Mack and his GF stories...

WTF happened to Donkey I wonder? Mildly entertaining in an obnoxious way.

Caesar was in the US

Pike Video

Cheston was telling my KYB-AGX were the absolute best suspension for the max (I listened)

People were far more chill, friendly, no flame wars, mostly constructive advice. sigh. the good ol' days!
