98 Max GXE or 03 350Z Touring

I have an opportunity to buy a 350Z touring. But I've heard that the Z is having some issues and I know my car well. So I'm not sure if I should just keep my car. What do you guys think?

well depending on the opportunity and how good it is then I would take the friggin Z. They are having problems with them but from my understanding the problems are all recall work, which is free. I know one problem is that the axles are breaking if you drive them fairly hard. but otherwise I love the car and would jump on it if I found the chance. just my $.02

You got to ask yourself if you want performance over practicality. If so, go for the Z. However, if you like the extra room and more trunk space and ok performance, stick with what you have.

I would not mind having the Z myself but since I worship the sun, I would get the convertible or the G35 coupe.

I also would love and plan to get a Z, insurance will be much higher, your over 25 so it wont hit you like it would those younger than you but still it will be higher. Far less room in the car, less trunk space.

If you can afford it, and everything is still under warantee, and you know you wont need to carry around much stuff, get the Z. If I had the chance right now I would keep the Max simply because I couldnt afford the Z right now.

As everyone says - if you can afford living with minimal trunk space comparied to the Max, get the Z. Since you're asking the question, I'm assuming you could afford it. My vote - get the z.

Depends on the car payment to be honest. If you have the money, go for it, I guess it will probably be about $500 a mo for 6 years + full coverage insurance. Then you have gas and maintainence. So you figure about $800 a month for 6 years in expenses to be conservative. Good luck!!

Since you don't have to worry about driving it in snow, you should go for the Z. I myself couldn't get one unless it was strictly a summer car...I'm sure they're a blast to drive though. My friend got quoted $15,000 a year for insurance on a 2005 but seeing as you're 27 I'm sure it would be substantially cheaper.

If you can afford payments then go for the 350Z. If later find you need something more practical, get something else. This way you'll have sometime fun while you are still young. I’m planning to sell/trade mine for a Solstice sometime after the initial hype

Just remember that no matter which you choose, you are not bind by it and can always trade it in for something else...

wow. that's a blanket statement.

just kidding. I really don't care. I decided to not get it after researching because I don't want to spend any time at the shop. I could get a killer deal on it because I work for the dealership, but I don't want a car that could have problems. and we see hot cars at different times.

I don't think that you can really compare the two cars.

ok. I think G35 or Lex GS is better option. I may wait to come across one of those, but as for now, I'm keeping my car. thanks all.

This is your decision, obviously the wise financial decision would be to keep the Maxima and invest the money into something that goes up in value, not something dumb like a car. But thats no fun, now is it?

But there are plenty of cars out there id rather have than a 350Z.

B5 S4 (possibly my favorite if reliability and maint. was not an issue), E36 M3, S2000... hell, you can get a 1991 NSX with 140,000 miles on it for $25000 . All im saying is that if you do decide to get a new car, you should look at all your options.

The Z has a surpsing amount of room. My buddy picked up from me my front and rear Jeep bumpers, control arms and a couple of shocks and fit it all in his Z.

I can't believe your actually asking this question. I mean damn...I'm loyal to my Maxima but a 98 se vs. a 350Z Perf. ??? If you have the $$ don't think twice. You will need a second car to drive in the winter if they are bad near your area. But other than that you can get most things in a Z. I pay $425 a month for mine over 5 years and insurance is $2000 a year for both the 6th gen and Z. GO FOR IT!!!
