How to buy costco gas without being a costco member

Instead of swiping your costco card first, swipe your AMEX card, then select "Pay with costco Amex card." You don't have to have a costco amex card to do this, any amex card will work. I've tried this at multiple costcos in UT and OR and it worked like a charm.

Where I'm at Premium at costco is $2.25 while everywhere else is $2.49. Good way to get some "cheap" gas.

I am a costco member, but my card doesnt work at the pump.. so the attendant guy puts his in and i use my CC then..

If you are not a member, you can always find the card [i have found plenty in the store] or buy it on ebay maybe? like a deactivated one..

and tell the guy it isnt working..

sounds like a great loophole, but how about you just get the $40 membership and take advantage of the other savings inside?

I do have a membership, I found this loophole by accident because one day I put in my amex card before putting in my costco card.

the cards have your picture on it don't they?

people here are SOOOO STINGY when it comes to gas. socal by far has the most expensive gas (and it's only 91) and there are the LONGEST lines for costco gas. seriously, people waste their time to save a few bucks at the pumps...

When you were in Oregon, the attendant didn't even look? I imagine they don't even care.

BTW, the $40 or whatever per year for a Costco card is well worth it. I save more than that just on the photos I process. Not to mention the "Costco Lunch" I get sometimes from all of the free samples. You can stuff yourself in about 20 minutes of walking around the store.

The ones that say there is no Costco with gas in NY well there is one in Staten Island. Never got gas there since it's too far from my house.

Actually, if you are a Costco member with an AMEX Costco credit card, your membership account to Costco is linked to you AMEX credit number. Therefore, you could swipe you AMEX credit card only at the pump and the machine will cross-reference the AMEX with your membership to Costco. Similarly, if you so happen to forget to bring you Costco membership card inside Costco for the cashier to scan at the checkout lines, all you need is your AMEX Costco credit card for the cashier to scan and again it will be cross-referenced.

$40 isn't much. Hell even the executive membership pays for itself.

It's not worth it at all. Gas + $9 toll = wasted time and money.

Just go to a Safeway store that has gas. About the same prices as Costco. And membership is free I believe.

Yeah, like Sam's. I have their membership, but my own AMEX. It works, I tried it last night. I don't know about ATM card, I'll try that next.

Until recently, they used to give lifetime mount, balance, and rotation on tires they install. I used to buy tires online and have them mount for $10/tire. Now they'd only do it if you bought tires from them.

haha i love costco. They have everything. Great deal on terry cloth towels, huge huge pack for like 9.99? Im not a member but my parents are. They use there AMEX card and i use my dads old picture card. I just it for mainly gas. There a good 20-30 cents cheaper then anywhere else and they got good gas. Oh and the Lunch some1 else mentioned. All kinds of samples! They also have good real lunch too. The pizza woo!!!

Oh and they have the best return policy ever. I got a ps2 for xmas about 2 years about and a few months back it stopped working and made that nasty clicking noise. Well i had no box, no reciept, NOTHING! I took it back in a plastic grocery bag with the 2 games it came with and the controllers. They took it back and gave me the money my parents paid for it. So i picked up the new ps2 with a network adapter for like 10 buxs. Its great. 3 days ago i took back my iPod so i could get the 20gig Photo.

its defiently worth the money.

I'm in richmond and the costco gas gives me the worst gas mileage ever. I generally get 350 a tank, and on their gas i get maybe 275ish. I pump the premium stuff in my tanks too.

As I said before, I don't have a costco Amex card. I have the AMEX blue card.
