We have just retired the SMX officially. We may make an appearance at maxima day one more time with the car, otherwise it is off to the garage for a little bit at least.

We just bought the brand new M Coupe with the new 315 hp engine. It was the second one delivered in arizona. Estral blue with every option(there are only 3). It drives like no other car that we have been in and redlines at 7500. 0-60 in 4.9(dealer spec), the older gen with 240 hp were 5.1 secs.

Here are some pictures. It has been fun and we will still keep in touch.

Retire the SMX? Planning to sell anything off the SMX? I bet there would be many takers.

Nice ride!

I saw one of these on the road last week, although it was not a new one. Looked pretty similar though. I heard of the M3, but had never seen one on the road. The guy was having fun scooting in and out of traffic. What do they sell for?

the car is a great handler, but it is very very easy to get sideways and induce drift.

Its no m3 with H&R race springs =)

it is a 2 door hatch. and skimax answered this earlier, it is the same exact engine as the new m3 however they made the exhaust more restrictive. car and driver did an article and said a simple swap out to supersprint exhaust, fixes that real quick.

I'm with the duck's head theory, they lost there sleek lines by turning a sport coupe into a sports wagon, but i'm sure it would be a killer ride acceleration and handling wise, just looks like a mid life crisis car to me.

Yeah at age 27 I am having a midlife crisis! LOL. It just happens to be the best handling sports car that I have been in for 50k new.
