V.I.N. Codes?

Yes
Yes, they do have meaning. Honestly, they can get reeeaalll complicated.
Typically a VIN is "reserved" for the first 9 or 10 digits. The last 6, 7, 8 are used by the manufacturer to denote a sequence number. VIN's are 17 digits in length. Cars pre-1980 (?) are not required to have a full 17 digit VIN number. Now, all cars are required to have a full 17 digit VIN.
You will not find such information as engine size, but it may tell you where it was made and the style of the car.
The subject of VIN decoding is very in depth. You could probably write a book about it.

Here is the breakdown of the V.I.N:
Letter/Numbers:
1-3: Manufacturer
4: Engine Type (H=VG30E, E=VE30DE, C=VQ30DE)
5: Vehicle Line
6: Model Change Number
7: Body Type (Sedan)
8: Restraint System (S=Standard P=Automatic)
9: Check Digit
10: Model Year in a letter code

Last 6 Digits: Vehicle Serial Chassis Number.
For number 11, I forget which is Japan and which is Tennesse.
Hope this helps,
-Nick

Nick,
That is great information and I didn't know all of it. Evreything you said is right and I, also forgot which letter is Tennessee and which is Japan. One thing to add to prevent a floor of questions is if your 8 'digit' is an A, it means you have the optional side air bags as well. Just a little added info.
Thanks again for the rest of it.
