Bought a 6spd 02 Maxima SE

This last saturday I purchased this car north of ATL. Finally got around to snapping a few pics of it as a storm rolled in tonight.
The car is exactly what I was looking for: 1 owner, low mileage, and extremely clean with a warranty.

I'm already in love with it!

Here is the original For Sale picture...

...and what I came up with after a few minutes in Photoshop.
Maybe eventually she can be so beautiful, but for now I am thoroughly satisfied.

I also had a couple quick questions that I've noticed in the few days I've had my car:

1. My trip computer is currently showing me 29mpg -- I reset it 200miles ago when I filled my tank up. Is this thing usually pretty accurate? I couldn't imagine that I'm really getting this high mileage.

2. Theres no illumination for any of the buttons on the steering wheel while driving at night (trip, cruise, ect) - is this right?

3. The vallet key and the extra key fob I recieved with the car won't start the car. I'm assuming they need to be activated. Can I do this or do I need to take it the dealer?

Thanks in advance for the help and I look forward to becoming a member of this great community!

1. Do not go by the mpg gauge becuz sometimes they tend to be REAL OFF...the most accurate way is to divide the # of miles u traveled with how many gallons u fill up...in some cases the gauge is accurate though...like when I hop on the freeway and cruise at 65mph and reset the gauge...the mph shoots up to like 32...sounds about right if I cruised the whole way like that....

2. Yes they aren:t suppose to light up...just memorize the location of each button...it will become second nature to u after a week...

3. This is the Nissan Immobilizer system doing its job...only the original key has a special chip inside that will send the correct signal to the ECU to start the car...if u want duplicates, u must take your car to the dealership to get another key programmed..

The mpg calculator will always read higher than your actual mileage. I hardly ever reset it. The longer you allow it to calculate, the closer it will be to your actual mileage. Mine reads about 3-4 mpg higher than actual.

Not a bad photochop. If you have the original tires, I'd suggest replacing them ASAP. The OEM Potenza's are death donuts after about 10,000 miles. Terrible in the rain and snow. Rims, tires and tint are a good start. Then lower it, too.

Welcome to the org and the 6 speed club!

Congrats on your purchase. You should be pretty satisfied for many years to come, and if you hang around here for a while, you'll learn alot about your car. Eventually, you'll be able to start putting in your own .02.

Great find! I would get rid of the advertising on the a$$ end of the car, however. I hate signage with a passion, lol!

Congrats, that's a nice looking ride and a decent Photoshop job. As far as the keys, take ALL the keys to the dealearship and they can reprogram them for you.

Thanks for all of the replies.

The car does have the orginal tires on it which are showing almost no tread pattern at all right now. I was doing 35 while it was lightly raining yesterday and it was still trying to drift on me.

I'm looking to pick up some Yokohoma AVS ES100's in the next week.

Thanks again!

Nice, I just got my 02' 6-speed last week! How many miles did it have when you got it? Just wondering, mine had 26000 and I thought that was pretty low

Well not that low, but it had around 45k with the extended 100k Nissan warranty.

I needed something pretty low with a big warranty because I currrently drive between 25k-30k miles a year and I didn't want to be hitting 100k miles before I even got my loan payed down to $10k.

nice find! I've had mine for about 10 months now and am still completely in love with it....still brings a smile to my face every time i get in it..and yes...definitely get rid of those deathtenzas ASAP...i had to have mine for over 7 months and driving my car in the rain was the worst experiance ever...there were several close calls even when i would drive slower than everyone around me....when i got my falkens it was a night and day difference...i can actually brake and accelerate in the rain!

Its nice you got the 100,000 mile warranty. I got mine with a 0$ deductible 75,000 mile warranty and I had to use it already. As I was driving it home from the dealership.....(180 miles away to find a dang 6-speed), the Check engine light came on. So I took it in and it was a bad 02 sensor so they replaced it for free Glad I got the warranty cause it was a 324$ part.

Funny you mention that. The guy I bought it from said the o2 sensor had gone out the day before I purchased it, but he had it taken care of.

Got my first kill on the interstate tonight... against some late 90's lowered rims exhaust and not sure what else Volvo.

Even though I'm still granny shifting he got walked.

This cars going to get me in trouble...

Congrats on the new car.

It looks hot. Enjoy it.

Once you get accustomed to shifting, you'll be walking on quite few others. This car will move. I suggest a radar/laser detector as your next purchase.

Good luck.
