Car PC REMOVED
#1
Well guys, I did it.
I ripped the entire multimedia / PC setup out -- keyboard, trackball, antennae, computer, GPS, head unit, DVD player.
It's clean. It actually feels really good. Now I have a big hole in my dash tho -- I gotta get out and buy a new head unit and get it installed!

Glad it's gone. I'll try another round when I have a better solution.

if you like fold out systems (which i dont) pioneer makes a true 7" it's nice too, in dash cd. but santeka makes really good lcd monitors.. i think they might be active matrix tft displays too. they go up to 15"

I had a folding one already. I am thinking about the new Panasonic 9000 with a true 7", but not sure yet.

Yeh I'm going to think about this. As I said I like the color screen concept much better, but .. damn it was way too much aggravation.

some guy a while back by the name of Fong did a nice PC install with a booksized PC and a 10 inch LCD screen. He also had monitors on the visors and the back of each headrest. The post and pics should be on file in here somewhere.
Nice and clean though.

Yeh but you don't have a screen, etc. You just have LCD right? That makes life easier, but if I'm going to have a PC in the car I'd much rather have the full screen. Lots more options.. but that's really what had been giving me the most hassle. Who knows, I might try again this summer with a different config...
