evo & g35

tonite i rolled around with my buddies....one has a evo 8 and the other a g35 and damn i can explain how much i want to boost my car now.....i got back to my car and floored it and it felt like a ford escort no joke...but anyways wat puts a smile on my face is that i paid 8 for my car while they paid 30 for their cars and i can be just as fast with like 6 grand to do a 3.5 swap and boost....just wanted to share that it felt like a roller coaster riding in those cars.

What did you expect? Evo is a rally car that was adapted for the streets. G35c is a rebadged, refined 350Z. Of course your Maxima will perform like an Escort by comparison.

Yeah dude G35 isn't fast they run 14s which is 5 speed Max territory. I've raced a few I have a 3.5 in a '97 and I usually put 3-4 cars on them.

They can consistently run 14s. They don't need awesome drivers to hit 14s. The fastest stock 4th gen 5spd is Neal's beater which did 14.5. Neal is also one of the best drivers on this board. 90% or more of the 5spd drivers on this board won't consistently hit 14s.

This is a natural feeling when driving a newer car.

I was driving my Girlfriend 05 mustang (Rented,V6, and Auto) and I enjoyed the torqe that it had, got back in my car and it wasnt as torqy but my car is much older and tuned different.

I think its natural for most of us to get into another faster car and enjoy the ride, then feel let down when we drive our own cars home later that night.

The grass is always greener on the other side.

My friend drives a 528i and when he drove a 4th. Gen Maxima, he loved the response better than his BMW. Just be happy with what you have.

G35C run low-mid 14s don't they? The EVO 8 runs low-mid 14s as well high 13s with a good driver.

I say 3.5 Swap should take out both. But the EVO just has to do a few little tweaks and it's all over again for the Max

it seems the 3.5 swap is becoming a common mod for a Maxima, how much is the damage to do this swap?

That's the tale of 2 different cars with 2 different purposes...one being an acceleration monster the other being a high-speed autobahn stormer.

1/2 to 3/4 of a second faster?

Can't remember his name JClaw possibly?? He's running low 13s I believe with a little extra work he could be hitting 12s soon.

If you ask me running 12s all motor is more impressive then with boost. But boost is still great!

THATS IT!!!!!

I've had it with all this BS evo talk. People are comparing the EVO to a maxima, are u kiding me. They are too different beasts. Why aren't people talking about EVO vs. Skyline, a car nissan intended for racing?? I'll tell u why, because the EVO couldn't Hold a candle to the Skyline. and I'll tell another thing, Mitsubishi is the same company that built the planes that attacked pearl harbor, the Zero. So u can lick Mitsu crack and i'll stick to my Nissans

Let's take this one, one at a time...

First, the Evo has been compared to the Skyline, what we all know as the G35. It is faster than a G in a straight line AND in the twisties.

Second, what's this about Mitsubishi and Japanese planes? Are you seriously bringing up WWII ****? Okay, let's not use anything related to IBM because Hitler used IBM machines to help exterminate the Jews. You're not allowed to want a BMW or even think one looks nice because they helped build German fighters that fought against us in WWII. Don't play Ubisoft games because the French parent company is anti-blahblahblahblahblah.

AHAHAHAHHAHA WTF are you talking about? people compare just for HA HA's, they don't compare to shut the other car down at every aspect. everyone of us just throws opinions and experiences and we all talk... bottom line... who really cares? maybe you do

yes a stock max and a stock evo are on completely diff level BUT some of the maxes on this site would love to compare their cars to a evo....now how many other family sedans (aka granny cars aka grocery getters aka 4 by 4s w/e people call our cars these days) that are in the maxima class can you compare to a evo.... a camry??? no so its like a knock on to evo drivers that they paid 30 g's for a car when ours can be just as fast with about 6 grand engine work into it
