Site w/how to and pics of cv boot kit replacement

There was a link in a thread a week or so ago that took me to a site where there were pictures and a written how to, to replace the outer cv boot on my cv joint. Would anybody that knows what I'm talking about be so kind as to post that site again. I've attempted to search for over a couple hours now so that 'Puppetmaster' won't flame me , but it has been very unsuccessful. TIA

It may be best and a smarter precaution to replace the whole cv shaft, especially if you dont know how long the boot has been broken.

i'm going to check my bearings and see if it's busted or what-not. i found the boot busted when i went to lower my car, and it hasn't been clicking at all. but i'll double check and replace the axle when if fudges up next time.

There's definately pros and cons of either changing the boot or entire axle. Me personally I prefer the boot replacement if you catch the torn boot in time. In the 9yrs I've had my car I changed the axles once and all other times has been boots. Choose your repair method wisely and drop me a line if you need any help or suggestions, I'm on the south side of Charlotte.

How do you know if you've caught it in time? By the time you discover the torn boot who knows how long that could have been, and what sediments could have gotten themselves in their. Unless you check your boots daily then there you really wouldnt know exactly how long you were driving with broken boots.

ahhh, major success. we had a tie bar fork and everything. my main reason for going into the suspension in the first place was to replace my steering knuckle cause i thought it was bent/busted. come to find out everything was ok, and proceeded with changing the outer boot without having to remove the axle. the only thing that held us back was getting the outer joint removed from the axle after undoing the clamps and removing the boot......nothing a hammer and swift swing didn't solve though. cleaned up everything with turpintine regreased and reinstalled. Note: the retaining clip that comes with the boot kit from nissan are too big , so i just used the clip that was already there. much success for first time changing axle components on a max. thanks for asking, now i'm just looking for a real good alignment shop.
