As long as you don't see the grooves from the coarse sandpaper you used.... try the Lexan plastic polish or equivalent you can get at Kragen etc.

Compound and a buffer (or just some elbow grease) will make the lenses nice and clear again.

We used to sell this kit at my old job. The pads go up to 12,000 grit.

just clean them with soap/water and then just wetsand horizontally with 600,800,1200,1500,2000 with a water/carwash soap mix
it takes a long time to sand them but its worth it..they are soo smooooth and look brand new..most headlights i know are plastic..id deff recommend doing this if your headlights got a bunch of scratches or anything..but if the scratches are big id do dry sand with 600..thats wat i did and everything turned out fine..then i just used rubbing compound and polisher so they look all shiny/glassy again

I have found that on plastics don't go too low a grit b/c in the end when you get to the finer (1500+ grit) you will see that the 600/800 grit made scratches too deep for the 1500 to remove. I would start atleast at 800, possibly 1000.

I use meguiars "lexan and plastic polish" for my headlights. It is 99cents per pack at autozone and last me a few cleanings, I would say 5 pairs of headlight cleanings.
