!** mAx Security **?

I wanted to know what all you wonderful 4th gen mAxImA owners do on a DAILY basis to prevent THEFT !!!?? I want some more/different ideas. I personally have 2 clubs (brake club & classic steering wheel club) Pager alarm w/ Hella Air Horns, shock sensor, glass sensor, and starter cut off. I also have a fuel cut off in a remote area. Sometimes putting the clubs on is a pain in the butt, but i guess it's saving me a big future headache. Also, my baby is protected by a new state of the art security system !!!!! **see below** lol
Let me know what you guys use as a security method !!!

you keep the dog locked in the car at all times

I lock my doors, set the alarm.
There is a write up on how to put the fuel pump fuse on a switch.

-Theft insurance will cover you better than anything else, its gets stolen you get a check for another one.

LoL. On a daily basis i park the car in the garage w/ the dog inside the garage but outside the car. lol.. The insurance will not cover everything, they will not cover your aftermarket parts unless you report them w/ receipts but your insurance will go up. Also, i know my car is in perfect shape so therefore i dont want to take a chance getting another mAx and im sure as hell not getting that slow @ss new generation mAx !!!

the unbreakable autolock, as if it even matters. all those alarms are BS. the real proffesional thifes are the owners of the tow truck companies. they tow your car and have all the time in the world to do anything.

My car came (used but I believe dealer installed) with that immobilizer key that you remove so the car won't start. I hardly ever use it....I figure, if they want it that badly, they'll take it regardless

The best security? Drive it. Its a lot harder for a theif to steal a moving car than a stopped one. LOL

Seriously, wire an ignition cut-off that kills the engine after 30 seconds of illegal driving. Nothing like the look on the thief's face when he finds out his getaway's gonna be on foot.

Actually, at one point my car had front and rear impact sensors, glass breakage sensor, interior and exterior microwave motion sensor, solonoide driven hood and rear trunk lock attach to aftermarket arm command. Worked well never had any problems. Oh and a starter kill wired in the engine bay(no jumping allowed). Sweeet

If I went anywhere really bad I would pull the fuel pump fuse so they couldn't get the whole car. Haven't had to do that yet (hopefully ever).

It is true though, if a theif really wants something, and if they have the way/materials, they will.

Don't tint the windows, don't put on huge rims, don't put on loud exhausts, don't do anything that attracts too much attention. Be happy with a plain maxima. That's the best security.

My Max was stolen - Questions for you all

My first day on this forum!
A week ago today, my beautiful maxima was stolen. I had the CLUB on it, a lot of good that did me! and alarm activated. A few days ago, the car was recovered in Brooklyn. They broke the window, stole my lights (I have original stock lights, not HID), and get this - stole my leather interior. Yup, the power leather seats. On top of that, they replaced MY seats with cloth interior, included power seats, thank you very much. They took nothing else.

I would highly recommend you get as much security including engine cutoff type devices onto your cars as soon as possible. If they want your car, they will try to take it even if it has visible security.

Because it's a '96 but I only had 70K miles on it, the insurance is saying it's a total loss cause it will cost too much to repair. I know that my car was in superb condition and always super well maintained and would like to keep it. However, every body shop or mechanic I talk to says I should not.

My questions:-Anyone ever re-build their cars after stolen?
-Do you think it's worth it? Should I at least get the engine and trans checked out?
-Do you think the tow truck guys who picked up my car took some parts?
-If I have to buy a new car, what should I get????
-I will miss my car too much so am having a hard time letting it go. would love to hear what you all think I should do?

I leave my car unlocked and windows down on the street. I accually wouldn't mind if someone took my car. Then they would have to deal with my tranny problem, not me.

Alittle piece of advise. if you park somewhere that it is unable to be lifted on the tow truck from the front of the car and you turn the steering wheel all the way toward the curb or wall, they cannot tow it as it will not go on the tow truck. Also, when they try to lift it the shock sensor will be triggered and my pager alarm will notify me. trust me, ive done alot of investigating
and alot of "catching people in the act of trying to steal my car".
Its not pretty when i catch em !!! Guys, if you love your car take care of it and protect it. if you dont care about it, #1 you shouldnt be apart of the org and also, i hope you find a car in your life that steals your heart.. lol..

Agreed...... some drunk spanish dude(not trying to be offensive) approached me at the car wash and started talking to me about how easy it is to steal maximas no matter what security is on the car exept for the wheel boot. he said he purchased three seperate wheel boots to PRACTICE on and he could not get it off, and even if he could it would take too long.

I saw it in the general section a month or so back, you'll need to search for it more than likely.
