it's been a minute...ok, maybe a LONNNGGGG minute but life has been suckey since I moved to the ATL....so after a long hiatus from the site I come to my fellow max owners for advice.
back in January, I was run off 285 and hit the concrete divider...the car had over 10 grand in repairs and despite my misgivings and concerns, the insurance company decided to repair it. I got the car back in February and from Feb through September I never knew how much gas was in the car (despite repeat visits to the bodyshop and to gwinnett place nissan, they could never figure out what in the sam hill was wrong with the car)
It finally threw a code last month (actually computerized proof that there was a ghost in the machine -- according to them they had replaced everything that they could in regards to the fuel: sending unit, tank, main wiring harness etc etc etc and the dang thing still didnt know how much fuel it had)
with the code they traced the problem to a wire that had burnt out and now I know how much gas I have.....but I still have another problem with the front drivers side where the impact was....when i brake it feels like the damn tire is about to fall off (i have taken it back to the body shop for that also and they sent it to their "suspension" shop at Kauffman tire who of course found nothing wrong with the tire or suspension)
i'm totally at my wits end since the insurance company wont send it to anyone else to look at it, and im not sure if they will pay for repairs if i take it someplace else and they find the actual problem
sigh...thinking about getting something else.....
sniff sniff

Sorry to hear about the car, but good to see you back.
I'm surprised they paid to have it fixed rather than totaled. But by doing that they ought to repair it to your satisfaction. You may want to take it to another shop (or 2) to get the front end checked and then present those estimates to your insurance company. If 2 shops find something wrong you have more clout with your insurance Co.

hey Gurl....tis has been a while....it could be a number of things that care causing the problems....the first could be the brakes, and actually all possible suspension parts on that side. wheel bearings...best thing is as already advised...have another shop check it out...and drive it...or make sure you're inthe car when they drive it (original shop that is) so you can be like...SEE...told you!
Best of luck

lo and behold you and steve were right...it was a combination of a warped rim and a warped rotor
so I'll be calling the insurance company on monday....they didn't replace or prorate the rim when the adjuster came out......
speaking of the adjuster....Nationwide NEVER came to look at the car, they paid for the repair because the "blue ribbon" bodyshop that they recommended said that the car was repairable (and at that time the estimate was 8300 and I only had 11000 left to pay it off) but according to the body shop, they would only total out a car if the damage was 90 to 100 percent of the cost of the car....anywhoo once they "fixed it" the bill was 10 GRAND and change
and then
I noticed on the final bill that I was charged for a set of headlights and corner bumper lights, but the as$holes put the old ones back on after "repairing them" I had to call Nationwide to have the adjuster come out and look at the car and the bill so that I could get the parts that were paid for
and then
they put aftermarket parts on the car when they repaired it, none of the parts fit and I was able to stick my hand in the engine bay because the gap between the headlights and the bumper was so dang big
so new bumper (genuine nissan parts) was bought to replace the crap they originally put on
but before that
when they repaired the damage they cut the wires for my bumper lights, so unfortunatley they no longer blink when I turn on my left/right signal
they also rewired the blinker lights that I had on my side mirrors, so every time I turned on the headlights BOTH blinkers would blink on the mirrors....so I just cut the wire and pulled them off
along with that
I lost my grill (that was the hardest of all, I miss my grill so much) they didnt even try to repair it even though I told them to, and when I found out that it wasnt on the car, it was to late and they had trashed the grill and the valence
so my car looks NOTHING like it did before the accident, its sorta stockish looking and driving around with 3 rims and 1 steelie makes it look bucktoothed
the highlight of this story.....Jaime did my brakes and replaced the rotors and pads.....I got the Bendix IQ pads and rotors (which are friggin wonderful) there is NO JUDDER whatsoever when I brake
it's all good the car will be paid off in April...she's a keeper now
