It is my understanding that a sign of a healthy A/C unit is to have the condensation dripping while the A/C unit is on..that means it's working like it should...correct me if I'm wrong please. Well my new car doesn't leak at all. I could use the A/C all the way home plus run a few errands and by the time I get home or stop anywhere it's still dry as can be under my car Is this normal? Every car I've ever had or ever see always has the condensation dripping from the A/C unit...

I also noticed the air doesn't get as cold as my old car...I think I had the R12 & now I have the R134(? something like that) Is this the reason why? Then again it was 103 degrees outside yesterday, it just seemed like it took a long time to cool off my car and even with 1 vent on me (I carpool so I can't hog all the vents ) It wasn't getting as cold as it could be.

Any thoughts? TIA

Your older car may have used freon gas in the AC system. Not sure about that. I know its colder. The newer cars use another kind of gas. Thats better for the enviornment. Anyways, the leaking is just condensation from the AC lines. You can run your AC for a while and look at your AC lines. They should have water around them. The AC line is the aluminum colored hardline with a little blue **** on it.

New cars don't really get 'ice' cold liek they used to. LIke my good ol '86 Tercel wagon. That car was ice!

The old AC's would give you a cold that's probably why they are not frosty anymore.

Sarah, you would usually see that on a hot and humid day.

yah my '89 Accord had supercold A/C...Max is less cold, but more Sexy, so it evens out! ^_~

sometime the drain tube gets a little clogged w/ crap in it. you might want to crawl under and make sure the drain tube is free of any debri.

R12 runs cooler than R134a. but R134a is better for the environment. small trade off i guess.
