2-pc 2004 Maxima rotors are finally here!
 

After months of waiting, I finally got the hats in the mail today!

So what's the weight savings on these puppies?
Does 5 lb per rotor sound good to you guys?!

Stock 00-01 rotors are 16.1lb each. So this 12.6" rotor is lighter than the stock 5th Gen 11" rotors!

And for the all-important price question...
I'm looking at tentative pricing of $600 per pair. that includes the hats, rotors, and all fasteners required to mount them together. I still have to order more discs, but will do that based on the amount of interest I receive.


Will they work with the stock 2004 calipers? Sorta. Because of the large diameter of the hat, you will have to trim approx 3/16" of the inside edge of the pad. From the pictures I have seen of the '04 calipers on the stock rotors, this shouldn't be a problem at all, and then you can use these 2 pc rotors as high-quality direct replacements to your OEM rotors to save rotating weight and rid yourself of the OEM rotors!

So will these fit a 5th gen with 2003 TE rims? I'm confused because the subject says 2004 Maxima rotors. And this is only for the front? What do we do with the rears -- slap on the OEM 6th gen rotors?

Brad, looks like discs themselves are in the $125 each range.. the last set I bought for the track car are about 3 years old and still haven't needed replacing- and you know all the track events I do! tough stuff.

you can also use these anywhere you want to use the 2k4 rotors. i.e. stock applications.

will these rotors fit the 00 with stock calipers.

For those who are worrying about it, 3/16" isn't much pad material. The part you would have to shave off is on the 'inner' most part of the pad (closest to the hub... lower mechanical advantage compared to the 'outside' part). It is not even a concern when you consider the new rotors higher cooling capacity and strength.

only if you have the BlehmCo relocation brackets allowing you to use the 12.6" 2004 Maxima Rotors.


If you do not own a 6th gen and your brakes are stock, you will NOT be able to run these without the BlehmCo relocation bracket.

Damn, and I just upgraded to 6th gen brakes with new 1 piece rotors too.

Oh well, I guess it'll be an option when these wear out.

just to clear things up, the 5.5 gens are not compatible with the relocation bracket...to get these on a 5.5, you will need to buy the 6th gen calipers, pads, hardware, and these rotors, and trim the pads like he said and they will fit...they WILL clear the stock 5.5 gen SE wheels...i don't know about the GLE wheels, but they will on all stock 5.5 gen SE wheels (yes, including the TE wheels, they're the same thing, just shiny :grinno: )

..... Or you could upgrade to the Z32 calipers shown in the above pic. :)

Oh and I would have, if they would have only fit behind my wheels without a spacer :(

good luck finding any brake kit to fit under the stock wheels... there's just not enough spoke clearance on them unfortunately.

And hopefully when these rotors need replacing, the 2-pc rotors you have will still be available.

The discs are made by a well-established race parts distributor. Some of the best in the industry. they'll be around as long as there are cars. :)

A couple of questions.

Do you know the the weight of the 5.5 gen rotors?

Are their any plans for 2 piece 5.5 gen rotors?

5.5 gen rotors are going to be in the 20lb range.

currently I'm not planning on doing anything with them. I don't think they'll work with these hats, and they are the most expensive part of the setup. not worth redesigning everything only to fit a very small percentage of cars.

well i know that i will be getting the Z32 caliper package with these rotors when my current brakes wear out. what i want to know is the nature of the clearence issue with the 5th gen wheels, does the caliper not clear the inner diameter of the wheel (i don't see how since they're 17s) or the inside surface of the spokes? if it is the spokes, then what size spacer would have to be used to clear the brakes? thing is, i'm running the 5.5 gen wheels i have as winter wheels, and i don't really want to have to get different wheels when i upgrade the brakes.

looks good, is that a powder coated or zinc/cadmium plated finish?

the clearance issue is with the spokes. a spacer would fix it, but you're looking at something like 3/4" or so. these calipers are huuuuge compared to the stockers.

BUT.. if you're just doing the stock caliper relocation kit, they WILL fit under the factory 17s.. the rotor is the same, but with the stock 5.0 gen caliper.

I'm going to have to order the rotors custom, but I have 10 sets of hats in stock now.. I'll probably just drop ship the rotors straight from Coleman if you're ready to move on them.

my 04 frozen rotors are like 20 a piece, im sure id feel a huge difference in accelleration with these, as soon as i need to replace them i know what im getting, hopefully the price will come down a tad b4 then

Man I wish I had waited on replacing my rotors. 600 for a pair is a grip but I think it would be worth it for the longevity and rotation mass being removed from the drive wheels for acceleration. Il keep in my for when I need replacements.

I can get you everything, but I'd like to verify fittment of the whole setup on an 04-05 before I ship all this to you. the rotors are a direct swap, but the calipers might need new brackets to fit. I'll check and see as soon as I can find a 6th gen in the area willing to let me tear their car apart. :)

wow that'd be a little much for my taste, the front wheels sit far enough out in the wheel well as they are now. would the Enkeis you have for sale clear the z32 setup? those would make for some pretty nice winter wheels ;)

unfortunately, they don't. they don't fit much of anything... half the reason I have them for sale. right now I think I'm goign to keep them for my 240 though.... I've got my old skyline rotor/wilwood caliper brake kit on the 240 right now, and it fits those wheels perfectly.

I might be willing to come down to Houston sometime if you need a 6th gen and it wont take to long. I want some of those rotors though and I dont have $600.

If the brackets I have from the 5th gen fit, then it will take about 30 min to bolt them up and see. no need to even disconnect the stock calipers to check if these bolt up.

I have another customer locally with an '04 and I'll see if he's willing to come by for a test fit. If that doesn't work out, I'll be glad to give you a deal on some of the parts I have here. should be able to knock a couple hundred off the total if you're interested.

Might possibly be if your in no hurry and the price is right on those rotors. I could only come down on a weekend unless im off for some reason. Anyways we can talk about it later. Thanks Matt

Yeah, we'll figure something out on it. I've got a ton of other stuff going on right now in the mean time and am about 3 months behing on lower tie bar production.. as soon as that's done, then I'll focus more on brakes again. only one man... not enough time for it all!

damn, i saw that picture with the Willwoods and figured the Enkeis would work with the z32 calipers for sure :wtc:

The Wilwoods I have in those pics are very small actually. they're not much bigger than the stock calipers. the Z calipers are roughly twice the size of them.

BTW, I have a 6th gen coming by this afternoon to replace some broken wheel studs a shop FUBARD. While I have the brakes off, I'm going to stick my goodies on the car and see how they do. I'll have pics of everything installed on a 6gen by tonight. :)
