What type of gauges are you going to put in there? Do you have any mods?

Please, I know it is your money, but please don't buy them just to look cool. You should take that money and buy a y-pipe first. Like I said though it's your money, so you can blow it how you like.

nah but really though, just hook em up to at least something so they're not completely useless. I say go for it if u like em. I'm thinking of a shift light for my car, i dont really need it that much, but it woud help.

If you're going to get those pods to "look cool" at least spend more money and get some Voltage, water temp, AFR, Oil temp, or EGT gauges. At least you can claim there's some functionality to it and not just look rice like what the others have said. They look cumbersome to some extent (i.e. blocks view).

i just fianlyl got my guages in, only two fo the four are hooked up so far, but each one has its purpose. i plan on adding two more gauges, boost and nitrous but i have to get the things to make them required first. but those gauges will be hidden behind my vents, so the untrained eye will only see the basic guges and assume im rice.

The y-pipe is the run between the headers and the b-pipe, joins the exhaust gas from the two headers' together.

So are you going to hook them up or not? And if yes, what are you going to use them for?

custom maxima has them. just paint to match. most of the gauges arent too hard to hook up, just rmember most require adapters. and they can be $$$, voltage is easy. my water temp had an adapter that goes int he rad hose, so u have to cut ur hose in two to ge that to work. air fuel, u have to tap into ur primary o2. i havent got all i need for m oil pr cause the adapter is like 60 and its best to relocate the sender to somewhere where it wont get as much vibration and thatll prob be like 20 for the lines.

make sure to get electric gauges, the mechanical ones are harder to hook up, but they are cheaper.

also when looking for gauges look for the sweep range, i only have 180s, but they have 290s as well but theyre more $$$. having the needle only move the top half is fine with me.

btw i have all autometer ultra lites with refracter leds, theyre alil too blue at night but in the day time they match se gauges very well

i think thats enough

What is your reasoning? Getting these gauges will not make the Maxima a sports car so those people will still be right and you would have spent money on useless gauges.

while ur point is valid.(and a good one)

we all spend good amounts of $$ on things that are by all accouts useless as far as performance goes. body kits, spoilers, engine covers. interior stuff. etc

im not fan of big body kits, ill be getting a lip and thats all. (thanks blackbirdvq for making me want my car to look as good as yours) but i like gauges thats why i got mine, that and im paranoid my cars gonna break all the time

to each his/her own. as long as theyre hooked up. there was a non turbo eclipse at my work a few months back with a boost gauge, we all had a good laugh at the owners expence. but i know all the people that drive fast cars are laughing at me with my triple pod. oh well i like them.

if your budget is under a $100, forget this mod and move on. save a couple dollars more and get you some FSTB/RSB.
