It's possible to ride safely guys but Jime's son was racing. There is always a possibility of injury when racing that's why people shouldn't do it without the proper gear.

it just means that you take the required saftey precautions when operating a motorcycle and obtain the proper training..
motorcycle fatalities are so high because of idiots who buy bikes to big for them.. idiots who don't wear the right gear.. and idiots who don't go to MSF training.

Oh you didn't mention all those riders out there who don't have a license because either they couldn't pass the state exam or think they will never get caught....not worth the risk in any measure.

Racing is a big risk and is in a more controlled environment than the street. He was having fun where he is supposed to...at the track.
Funny thing is that he and his wife just finished the big course which he insisted on doing, which was great. However his best friend was a few months ahead of him and of course a little more experienced and talked him into going to the track. Of course it didnt take too much talking they both had been into drag racing cars for a few years.
The strange thing is that he has never been much of a daring kid, sure not like me. He has always been pretty timid and levelheaded when it came to safety and driving, again not like his Dad.
I was always the guy that my friends would get to go across the river, climb a bank or take a jump then if I did it ok they would follow on their bikes. Of course racing or playing on a dirt bike isn't as dangerous as on the asphalt, much slower speeds and usually softer landing.
I don't think he really understood what could happen at those speeds. In a car at the track its safer than on our highways at least in the mph range we are in.
I love my Son and bikes and in no way lay blame on either, well if there is any blame its on the Son, sorry Jimmy but thats reality.

damn dude, sorry to hear about his misfortune, all i can say is that from past patient experience, when the weather cools off and hes outside he might suffer from aches due to the temp change on the metal.my suggestion is keep the leg warm when it cools outside.
Just a bit of an update. My boy is now using a cane and can put 50% weight on the leg. Probably going back to work in a couple of weeks after being off for 6 months. Prognosis is he may have to use the cane for up to a year but should see full use of the leg.
Since he has had lots of time on his hands and has sold his DSM and his bikes, he has just bought a new toy. Its going to stay stock and he won't race it.
This car has not even had shoes on the inside, the guy even made his wife take hers off before she entered. Pristine condition, his garage is carpeted and heated and car has never been driven in winter. Now he just has to wait for another 2 or 3 weeks until all the snow is gone before he can drive it.
