What Would You Want In A Gen 7 Maxima?

I was poking around and saw a thread linked to an article about the 7th Gen Maxima, I figured it might be fun to hear what people on the org might want in such a car
So post how you think it should be

Heres my shot, its a bit of a leap from the current cars, but the spirit of it would fit in very nicely as a Maxima
What might be nice would be a switch to a rear drive, full size format ala Dodge Charger.
I could see an extended FM platform car, maybe the size of an infiniti M, with the same engine options (VQ35, VK45) and a six speed stick available.
The luxo content would need to be kept to a minimum to keep the price down and keep the car out of G/M territory. But the rear drive and optional 8cyl would push the car clear out of Altima territory.

Oh and somewhere along the line maybe a fire breathing Maxima SE-R, with a VK56 (in car tune not truck tune) under the hood and a six speed.
That would be beyond amazing

Oh well just wishful thinking

Keep it 3-4 liters. V-6's get a lot faster revs and are better suited for foreign sports cars that have the perception of being high rev'ers. RWD would be nice, but AWD would be advantagous for the market (not many luxery cars have it, especially not in this price range). I know this would raise the price to nearly 40k, but inflation's a b!tch.

at least 300hp. awd the advanced one where you can change the torque split so ppl can have fwd, rwd or awd in the same car. give the se a more powerful engine, and appearance changes. DO NOT LET CAR GET ANY BIGGER THAN 6TH GEN

a wider 5/5.5 gen body style with the AWD system from the G35, revised front and rear fascia. At least 300HP, TRUE Dual Exhaust, SMG-type gearbox option...and I think more importantly factory NisMo part support (imagine .. 'NisMo Maxima..Track Edition')

ok as per my opinion
2007 max should just kick the power up to compete with the and the 300C find a way to get rid of the torgue steer ala AWD better looking interior quality of materials space is not an issue make sure they keep the 6-speed tranny

except in drop dead sexiness and weight.

I'd like the 7th gen maxima to be 2 door, 6 speed, RWD/AWD V6 turbo, but then i'm just giving you a description of a SKYLINE.

Maxima's prolly gonna be a 3/4L FWD Lux car at the 7th gen, and if the 6th gens are an indication of the look, it will be ugly as *****.

No offense 6th genners...I love all maximas.

I'm thinking this car will be an 09 model since Nissan is spending tthe money to do some major changes to it in 07 (for 1 model year I doubt) as they did with the 5th gen for 02. The mags have historically missed the mark with the year models of a new Maxima debut, I remember back in the early's 90's they said the 4th gen would be released as a 93 or 94 but was a 95 and the 5th gen would be a 99 it was a 00. I would count on it as a 09 model year. As for what I would want, just make it have a high quality interior with good handling, going back to its roots from the mid to late 80's, it really was the 1st sporty/luxury type car to be a hit from Japan. The 85-88's were sporty looking and had lots of luxury fearures like avail trip compute, powere seats and lots more. The only car to touch that at the time was the 86 Legend form Japan, everything else at that time had no where nearly the features of the Max from Japan.

A more attractive look :hello lexus gs300, is350. You can have luxury and looks since Nissan has seem to have forgotten. I'm not worried about the performance persay Nissan always brings that.

many seem to forget, the Maxima has always been targeted towards older drivers. it has always had near lux features. those features have upgraded since.
what many like in their older Max's is now provided in the Altima. So as long as you look for the features in older gens, you'll be disappointed.

otherwise you mod to your likes. nismo is finally delivering parts for the Max. many mods came out fairly quickly for the 6th compared to older gens. might as well accept, Nissan is not going to go back to older designs. I love all gens, noticing them going by. But no one can deny the the majority of Maximas are driven by white-haired citizens.

you're wish is granted

they call it a G35.

man, imma go trade in my 04 b/c never knew it lacked so many features.... I mean, there were only like 30 improvements added compared to 5th gens. opinions on the exterior, fine love it or hate, no prob. But you can't deny the features you recieve for under $30k.

But the reality is most buyers, especially Maxima ones, do not want the above. They also don't want to deal with another set of rims/tires in the winter. And Madison Ave. has sold the masses on V6's and FWD. So it would be a bad marketing move to go to RWD, Maximas already have a hard time selling without rebates, RWD would kill it altogether imho.

In Los Angeles? You could always get an Audi. Not only would a nice 3.2 Quattro be FWD like the 2WD A4, but it would be heavier and of no benefit! Drive one and see if you believe the Quattro story.

But for marketing purposes a FWD Maxima with AWD may sell better. Just be even heavier than ever before. Definitely see some slow slalom times as that boat turns.....maybe offer some bad a** 20's while they're at it!

Doesn't have to be magic, just good design. Typical entry-level European cars are a good 500lbs. heavier than a Maxima, well, at least 4th or 5th gen, I don't even know how heavy the 6th gen is. Yet they still whip the pants off the Japanese cars for 0-60, 1/4-mile, and slalom speeds. Drive a G35 with sport susp and you can clearly see that RWD does not by itself equate to good handling.

What I think is really going to happen if the automotive pattern is still the same is...The Infiniti "I" will/has retire and the new M models(the one's we're all secretly want) will be the new sister car to the new Max-7th Gen. That'll be a good deal to me.The Max has always been a SPORTS SEDAN with a splash of luxuary. All those new gadgets-bells and whistles in the M's,some of them will trickle down. Wishfully the 8 cylinder, but probably not.At the very least AWD,I hope. That and if Nismo steps up to the plate. All we need is a good base to start from. If it's perfect-what are we going to mod?

since when have models gotten smaller? 6th weighs in at 3500 stock. That's already with an Aluminum hood, trunk, rear suspension, tranny, and more. Plus the 04+ VQ weighs less than before. Adding AWD and keeping the same weight w/o losing other features would make you Super Engineer, not to mention keeping under $40k.

Anyone seeking AWD Nissans are referred to the SUVs and/or Infiniti.
