5th Gen. muffler on 4th Gen.
#1
Has anyone put a 5th generation muffler (the one with the bypass valve) on a 4th generation Maxima? If so, could you please provide specific details on the process.
Any difficulties with installation? Do you need to purchase specific parts? Thanks.

The 5th Gen muffler requires cutting
Either you cut the extension pipe off the muffler, do the same for the stock muffler and just weld on.. or you cut your b-pipe shorter, reflange and bolt up. The hangers on the muffler fit fine.
Sound was a little deeper than a stock 4th gen. Had a nice grumble (low) at idle while maintaining the quietness of a stock muffler.
My butt dyno couldn't tell the difference and I never put it on a dyno before the muffler install so I have no comparison numbers.
As you can see from the sig, I have since moved on... lol
Hope this helps.
