new brake pads

i called meineke to get new pads installed, they said 160 for the fronts and 160 for the rears. is that how much usually cost? i usually did my own work, but i dont have time these days. so ive never actually paid anyone to do them. it sounds steep what do you guys think?

$320 for a full set? Good lord... for that money you could get a set of Porterfield R4-S (arguably the best all-round brake pad available), install them your damn self, and spend the better part of a night at a nudie bar.

Anyone can do brake pads. Just buy some good pads, find a mom & pop shop that you or a friend trusts, and have them do it.

Front pads cost about $40, rears I guess about the same. Say, 20 minutes per wheel (jacking up, taking off, unbolting/rebolting caliper, removal and installation of pads, putting wheel back on, lowering off jack(stand)).

So for just under an hour and a half, and $80 or $90 in parts, you can get all 4 done. And be confident that they're done correctly.

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't let just anyone touch my brakes.

i took it to some really small mom and pops shop down the street, they seem friendly unlike the shady STS over here by my house, you can just feel the shadyness right when you walk in. any ways, i got my brake pads, for 70 bucks front and rear. and theyre gonna charge me 150. so thats 220 total, with the install and cutting the rotor. i do know how to change brake pads, i just dont have any tools or the time.
