automatic LSD maintenance

I drive a '99 Infiniti i30 w/ the LSD tranny, is there anything I need to do maintenance wise?

I developed a whine coming from around my engine bay, at first I thought it was the tires but after rotating them, it's not the problem. The sound has gotten louder with it peaking at 60MPH. I'd say from 55MPH - 65 MPH is when it's the loudest. My research is pointing me in the direction that my axle bearing might be going out, or the ring and pinion set in my LSD is worn out... Anybody have any ideas?

I thought about that, but you can't hear any signs of grinding or whatever at slow speeds. Actually below 30MPH it's pretty decent, it's only when I get on the highway around 60MPH it starts driving me crazy with the constant roooarrooooarrooooar.

yeh thats your wheel bearing, you can check it by jacking up the car and twist the wheel in and out to see if you have play. i have lsd and havent heard of any problems like this with it.also while driving apply the brake to release the pressure on the bearing and see if that makes it stop.

Maintain your LSD tranny the same way you maintain any other tranny.
Change the fluid every 30K, drop the pan and clean the magnets if you really want to make sure everything stays nice and clean.

C MAX, not doubting you or anything. But anybody have any other ideas?
I've applied the brakes while cruising at ~60MPH, but it doesn't change anything. I haven't tried jacking it up and moving the wheel in awhile. I do know that the the alignment seems to be fine and I have no noticeable vibrations at any speed.

Maintenance: I try to maintain the hell out of my car, @ 120k miles the tranny's been flushed twice and atleast drain and filled 3 times in the 80k I've owned it. I didn't know if there was some gearbox I might be missing cause of the LSD.

Anybody know what symptoms of a bad axle-shaft bearing would be as well as a ring and pinion gear in the tranny?

Really want to get this taken care of before a 500 mile trip next weekend..

Thanks all
