The Max is dead, Long live the Max! (Got My 2003 Max SE)
If you read my other thread then you know my 98 SE was cut down in it's prime at the hands of a confused elderly gentleman. While it was a bummer loosing the car I put so much into I looked forward to doing a few things different with my next car (leather, climate control, sunroof). I had several models I was considering and of course the 4g and 5.5g Maxima where on the list
I ended up buying a 2003 Maxima SE titanium edition, 60,000 miles, everything but Nav
, Six speed of course
Sheer Silver, gray interior (frost?), Leather, sunroof, heated seats/steering wheel, TE, data dots
and Hlsd. The hlsd and heated seats where two options I really wanted.
A couple of the rims have some curb abuse but otherwise the car is in great shape. I love the color, and I am glad to get away from the tan interior. With the Titanium edition it is a bit of a silver/gray overload, but I still like it. The dark colors look great when they are just washed but I live on a dirt road so the car gets dusty almost immediately.
I paid $15,000, through a private sale and the seller had the title in hand. In Mass you can not legally drive the car without the title, so it's a big plus if the seller has it (and not a bank or finance company). While it was not an incredible deal I still think it was a very good deal, especially considering that I do not have much time to shop around, I was paying for a rental car out of pocket until I got something.
I am not into modding as much now and only plan on minor stuff, mostly cosmetic, the 3.5 has plenty of power stock. A front strut tower brace, and smoked marker lights to start. Probably cleared headlights and angel eyes next but I think the Data dots might make this a PITA. When the car is ready for shocks/struts I may go with stiffer ones but I am staying stock height.
