Those are awesome fakes they look very real. It sucks to think that you pay for a real product and get a fake not only that but could be dangerous. Hope they catch and sue the basterds doing this. Good find

It's possible to tell the difference between real ones and fake ones, but what's to stop them from putting up a picture of a real set and shipping out fake sets?

soooo you spend 100 bucks less for the fraud springs...then maybe 1 month or more down the road... boom.. you have a lowrider on youre hands...those frauds must feel like ****..

the technology and materials put into these things are not competable.
first of all for a tein vendor there is no money in that business. so to sell it for even less , you know somethings up...

Noooo my sticker just fell off, jk. You'd be better off buying from an actuall online store than ebay since they use the same pictures for every auction for that car.

Man this stuff is scary, makes you think twice about buying on eBay. It's one thing to see fake no name blow off valves that look just like hks, for example, but when it has the same name on the product there is no way to tell almost unless you get the product. Thanks for the heads up.

thus the reason you should buy your parts from reputable REAL businesses, not just some no-name on ebay that's moving crap from a warehouse.

This is not about TEIN, but some other companies make their stuff in some Asian factory and act like it's made in Japan or something. The real deal is that the factory then will turn around and sell the same thing with the same quality as an off-brand or no-brand!
Of course, there are the knock-offs that are really knock-offs, and are dangerous to run in your car.

I just think that companies should be upfront about where the products are made, instead of trying to get a premium price because buyers think they are made some place they are not.

Selling only parts that "some dude" makes himself and sells them as exactly that- and for a price that reflects it. Is said dude trying to sell parts as "super special JDM Power Brace direct from Japan"? Errr, no. so your point is invalid.

But according to you, if you're selling on Ebay it's "crap" and your business isn't reputable.

Excuse me for giving you too much credit, thinking you would aasociate this perspective.

IMO, it's nothing more than flattery to think they would waste their time trying to copy a Maxima spring. 99% of the fakes are probably Honda.

Understood, but I would still prefer to have the correct spring rate. I am pretty sure mine are real though as I do remember the tien sign being printed directly on the spring, and the previous owner bought it from a local shop.

You missed my point about "anonymous" people selling imitation products in a place they have basically zero consequences.

I've been an active contributor/member on Maxima.org since before it was maxima.org.. I've met hundreds of people here and have an excellent reputation with everyone I've dealt with. Say you're local and want to buy something from me... call me up and you can come by the house. I'll toss you a beer out of the fridge and we'll talk cars for a while as I get your parts ready. Hell, I'll build the parts right in front of them sometimes. Have a problem with the product? call or email me and I'll make sure you're satisfied before we're done- even including a 100% refund if it was a screwup of mine and the customer wants a refund.

OR, you can email some goober on ebay that's selling fake crap with only a hotmail account and a fake return addy and phone number, so you have ZERO ability to even get ANY sort of support from the product. and good luck getting anything repaired/replaced under warranty from most of those people. want to pick it up if you're local? nope.. sorry. you pay shipping and it comes from their warehouse across town. hell, most of those guys don't even ship their own parts.

You made that more clear on your second post. The first one was too broad, which is why I made that comment.

On the other hand, I've been a member on Maxima.org since before it was maxima.org.. I've met literally hundreds of people here and have a reputation. you're local and want to buy something from me? call me up and you can come by the house. I'll toss you a beer out of the fridge and we'll talk cars for a while. Hell, I'll build the parts right in front of them sometimes. You're being overly defensive about this. You also forget that I too sell some parts and services out of my garage, so that would actually put me in the same boat as you. The point of my initial post wasn't to attack you, it was to get you to lighten your point of view. Obviously you aren't going to do that.

OR, you can email some scumbag on ebay that's selling fake crap with only an email address and a fake return addy and phone number, so you have ZERO ability to even get ANY sort of support from the product. and good luck getting anything repaired/replaced under warranty from most of those people.
Back to the generalizations again?

exactly. are you the pot or the kettle?
You also started your reply as a direct hit against me.. which pissed me off and now you get to deal with the rest of it. there's a BIG difference between what I do and sell and what the lamers on ebay do and sell. Lumping me anywhere near those people is a HUGE insult to me and my business.

Back to the generalizations again?
sure there are good people out there, but this thread is about the scammers... it's usually pretty easy to tell who's legit and who's not.
and as a matter of personal standard, I NEVER buy parts from ebay unless it's a big name shop that just happens to sell there too. It's not worth saving the $15 to have to deal with lack of warranty support or just the general BS you get when dealing with a small-time guy selling crap out of a ministorage, or worse yet just dropshipping from a warehouse somewhere..

Oh, so you DO buy from shops on EBAY. Before you declined to mention you considered a difference between any of them. Generalizing themall as scumbags, scammers, not reputable, etc.
