Recommended manual transmission rebuilder?

I'm looking for someone who rebuilds Maxima trannies. I need someone who will either get my busted one ('95, MT, open diff) in and out in a day, or has a core or two kicking around that they would be able to turn around before the weekend. And I need someone GOOD and RELIABLE because I'm sick of dealing with shady companies.

Any recommendations?

Try www.craigslist.com/org

Post it in the automotive services and you may get some replies. I found a mechanic to help me change my timing belt on there for an awesome price.

Anyone that can turn out a manual tranny rebuild from start to finish in one day had 3 possibilities:

1. The old shims were the correct size for the new bearings (possible but unlikely)
2. They stock all sizes shims, or a local dealer had them in stock (possible but unlikely)
3. They used the old shims and the tranny will fail again (very likely)

Consider these possibilities when you let someone do it and only give them a day.

Cottman in Paoli on Rt 30

Is where I had mine replaced with a rebuilt when my diff failed.
I was sent to them from the shop where I normally have my car worked on.
(Meineke in Devon)

Nothing special about it, but it got done as described, and it's within reach of your neck of the woods.

How much does someone usually charge for rebuilding a transmission removed from the car already?
