Question On New Rotors/Pads

Please don't flame as I haven't had my search enabled yet...

Anyways I just installed my new brembo slotted/x-drilled rotors with ebc green stuff pads. I went through all the break-in instructions and still have some rubbing with the pads and the rotors. Nothing major, but at certain speeds or times you can still hear it. Also from my understanding there is a layer of zinc that rubs off during the break-in, and it looks as is there were some slight, small amounts of metal shavings around the calipers and pads...is this the zinc?

Since I've only done OEM, I can't say for sure, but using common sense and my friend's Porsche and my old Volvo for experience's sake, I'd say no. I don't think the rubbing sound is normal--with our stockers we'd check the pins on which the calipers slide, but that wouldn't apply to Brembos. You've got what, 4-piston units? Any types of springs or retaining clips that hold the pads in place? I'd check them, maybe remove and put back in, making sure the proper shims are installed. And, I don't see how a layer of zinc equates to shavings.

Check the dust shields to see if they are rubbing on the rotor.
The metalic dust is indeed the ZINC coating coming off.

he is talking about rotors/pads, no mentioning of calipers, why 4-piston...
