Quick Question...Simple, and maybe Interesting.

So I made a bet with my friend...

the bet is; that if you take 2 1999 Maximas, same trim, same driver, same maintenance, on stick, they're both the same, stock, the only difference is that one has 60K miles and the other has 160K miles. You take those 2 cars and launch them down the track, will they have the same times?

Just because one has 100K more miles, will it be slower than the one with 60K miles if they're both taken care of equally?

I said yes, he said no. What do you guys say?

I say no difference.

no its not fact, fact would be more like there are so many variables its hard to say in 1/4 mile times. my vote is yes, only real way to know is to take 2 cars (per your description) and put them on a track and compare e.t.'s.

for example: my car is pretty well maintained but it does have things that need to be fixed on it and I ran a 13.9 this year at the track with just under 170,000 miles.

I have just under 140,000 and my car pulls pretty hard, pretty sure lower or higher miles won't differ much in performance if maintained well. I also heard that the VQ isn't scared of high miles

I would say both the same, but if anything the higher milage car would be faster since the bore would be bigger...no? This all concidering that all your chamber's pressures are equal as well....(shrugs). I think if anything the driver will be the bigger difference. A driver with 60K miles on him or a driver with 160k miles on him O.O

I remember reading something about maxes with more miles being faster because of carbon buildup in the engine, or some buildup in the engine, causing a stronger explosion....i dont know for sure, but i think i read something about that like a year ago.
