actually the major problems with DSM's are as follows

1st gen:
tranny, 3rd gear starts grinding after a while

2nd gen:
Crankwalk, the crank bearing wear away causing the crank to have too much play in the engine

of course this applies only to Turbo DSM's

Uh, yes I do. I still have a Galant VR4, owned a Galant GSR, my uncle has another Galant VR4 and Talon and my brother owns an Eclipse. All but my brother's Eclipse have had to have their ECUs replaced, something that shouldn't have to be done in cars less than 10 years old. So yes, that does make me knowledgeable about DSMs. And for me, 1st was a problem, not third. A little jumpy, huh?

No, I'm currently putting a bigger turbo and intercooler in it. I'll let everyone see it when its finished. Maxima comes first though.

Maxima comes first ? the galant is a way all around better car than the maxima..
With simple mods it would spank 90% of modded max's ..
Wut size turbo are you upgrading to ? wut intercooler?
Wut types of mods do you have on it now ?

Like I said, I have been having problems with the Galant, so everything I do is done when I have the time. As for mods to it, I had a 16 G (TD-05)in there (yup there was already a newer turbo in there than stock), but have located a TD-06 20G. The exhaust is all 3" (LOTS of noise), the flywheel has been lightened and I have AGXs on there. Right this second, the engine is physically outside the bay in the garage. I really have put alot of work into it (okay most of it was my uncle and father), but have gotten tired of the car. I would give it to my uncle in a heartbeat, but I still think that the car is too cool to give up. I wish Mitsu would finally resolve their quality issues in Japan so that the STi could come over. It's a much better car. As for why the Maxima is coming first? I drive it everyday, and modding this one is ALOT harder than modding the VR4. Plus, this one hasn'y given me any problems (knock on wood). In the upcoming weeks, the Maxima will get a Y, the valvebody upgrade and maybe UDP, in addition to the NOS and body kit. Not too much and not too expensive. Too bad its an automatic (damn I can't believe I just said that).

very nice..
if your going for a bigger turbo you should check out the forcedperformance website .. a friend of mine had a 20G on a 99GSX and just upgraded to a "green" turbo. It's about the biggest turbo you can have and still have the car daily driven. Big diff in performance to. have you ever ran your car at the track .. with a 16G and full exhaust you should be around high 12's ?
do you have an AFC ?
well if you ever get sick of the galant and really want to get rid of it let me know ..

STi.. yummy.. i'll prolly buy a new car in 3 yrs when i grad, it'll be either the STi version or a evo
