I needed a tire rotation and I called Sears for a price on it and they said that if it is the Rotation alone, they do it for free!!!

The question: I have to drive about 20 miles one way to get to the Dealer and he still will charge me $20 for the rotation. So, is it safe to go to Sears and get the rotation done for free? Also since this is just a rotation, is there anything that they can mess up?

Thanks guys.

Why don't you do it yourself? It's not that hard. Just need the right tools.

Well, if Sears going to rotate your tires for free, you could go try it. When I first got my Maxima, when it was time to rotate the tires, I brought it to Sears to rotate them. Didn't have any problems then. However, it was my stock rims and tires, I just wouldn't trust them or anyone with an aftermarket rims and tires. Btw, when I had my tires rotated by Sears, I remember they charged me for it. How you can you get it done for free? Maybe I got ripped?

I just called them asked them what they will charge and they said that it was free!!! . Now I have stock rims and tires and I am not expecting any problems out of this I am just trying to save time. Also, the charges and stuff varies from regions to region. I live in Charlotte, NC and a sears is 2 miles away for me and the dealer(where I go) is 20 miles away.

Maybe it's free if you bought the tires from them.
Maybe they think you did?
Did you?

And yes, you could rotate them yourself
but isn't it a bit of a pain without a lift?
Don't you need to keep putting the spare on and taking it off?

[And yeah, I'm saving up to have a lift put in my garage.
Just have to raise the whole house first.]

???????????
A jack and 2 jackstands is all you need to get all 4 tires off the floor.

Hummm
probably a lot cheaper than a lift.
Time to buy some more toys...

Well, I called them back yesterday evening at about 7:00 PM and they once again confirmed that the Rotation was indeed FREE! But they were all booked up by people waiting in line (as the services are first come first serve) so I rotated the tires myself.

I used TWO jacks. One in the front and one in the back (I used my Ford's jack) and rotated the tires myself for the very first time. I tightened the lugs as hard as I could with the stock tool that they give. Should I be concerned? Will my tires fall off???
