best way to secure my license plate from theft?

i just finally got in my personalized plates, but im sure theres a million theives out there that would want my plates, i dunno if i should post what they say or not but i know everyone on here would love them and want them too

anyway, im worried someones gonna steal them now, i put torx screws on the back that i had but for the front plate i just have phillips stock screw on it, it looks like a fine thread one, whats the best way to put it on? should i goto home depot and buy an allen screw? or another torx screw? is there any special screw that i can strip or something i dont want them coming off ever

If your plate is so unique, why would someone steal them and put them on their car? They are registered to your car so if a cop ran them, the plates wouldn't match the car and they would be in trouble. I think you're being a little paranoid here.

Use something obscure like security torx (ones with the hole in the middle) that some random punk won't likely be carrying.

BTW

No that's a standard Torx, there is another type that has a raised pin in the middle (and a corresponding hole in the bit) that is a little less likely to be commonplace.

People dont steal vanity plates nearly as much as they steal boring regular ones, they aernt barrer(sp?) bonds IE the are not good for anyone who posses them to use, if plates are stolen, the cops are called, the cops are then on the look out for those plates, which is easier to spot "I <3 NISMO" or "3BR 97E"

Point made?

I bought an anti-theft allen socket screws for my plates. It's a standard hex with a little nipple in the middle of the socket which comes up halfway. The only way to get these socket screws off is with an anti-theft allen wrench. Mine's a two-part license plate holder I bought at Pepboys that consists of a plastic base which mounts to the standard factory holes (standard screws); this is where the plate mounts also. Second part is the plastic plate cover and license plate frame which are secured by the anti-theft screws. The reason I did this was to prevent losers from stealing my registration stickers.

If they wanted to steal a plate it would most likely be the rear plate because it has the registration decals on it.

That would suck for me. I've only had a vehicle registered in one two tag state (Illinois) and all the others are one tag states. Seems like a waste of resources to make two tags and decals for the same vehicle.

Uhh, how about unscrewing them from the bumpers and putting them on the dash and inside the rear window? If someone really wants them, they'll just keep pulling until they rip your bumper to shreds.

So what does it say after all?

Putting anything that says "Nismo" on a Max is pointless...

Since the Max is one of the only Nissans that Nismo DOES NOT support.

I see and understand your point...

But personally, I say to Nismo for keeping the Max out in the cold...

Put a dab of metal filler on the hex bolt. That should discourage most thieves. Me, I would tear that bumper off using another car. But, a portable drill with an X-OUT (damaged screw remover) would be more discrete. Surrender or I’ll be back.

Where we live, stealing the only plate (rear only) on the car would be useless as pointed out above. I, too have a personalized plate. (4myswee), and frankly, I am more concerned about someone taking my stickers than my plate altogether. Plus I think it would look 'soft' for that plate to be on a car that is driven by a man.

If the tag is taken, the dmv issues a new one for $10. Big deal. If the stickers are stolen, they GIVE you free ones.

Or if you have one of your own you'd like to sell me for $150, that would work too.
