What do you mean by duh? You are the one trying to imply from all this talk that you can beat a WRX.

All I am saying is show me time slips and of both cars to prove me wrong. We can sit here all day talking about how your car feels faster with mods. Actually how many seconds are you taking off acceleration times anyway? The real deal is you have to mod the Max just to outrun a stock WRX. I can do mads to make my car run with the WRX but why should I? I just rather buy a faster car.

 

Guy listen I don't really care! I have a four door family sedan if I wanted a super fast car I would have bought one. Every single car I have owned I mod since it can be done and love doing it! It is for my personal driving pleasure..not to be a red light hero! You made a comment about driving faster cars than a Max that is why I said "DUH" obviously! The WRX is ugly and quick fine! But when I take clients out, going on dates or travel on the highway....I will take my larger, better looking, comfortable family sedan Max. If I'm driving on the highway and a WRX rolls up trust me he ain't pullin' away unless he has mods. The WRX is a rally car the Max is a family sedan...funny thing is with some really basic mods the Max is just as fast! That is the point! Most people on the road don't expect my car to be that fast since it looks stock and isn't lowered! You can only hear the growl at WOT then they look over by then it is too late since I have a good jump on them and they can't pull me back in. That is pure entertainment for me!

 

I think you misunderstood me when I said I have driven faster cars. I have driven cars that accelerate faster than the Max but the Max still makes me say "damn!".

We have something in common dude, we both don't care so why are we going on about this?

explain why the maxima,a family sedan have an SUV like supension (even the ride quailty is the same, just as bumpy,only less bodyroll)with 6.xx goroundclearance only like .2 behind ford explorer...
girls tells me all the time I'm lucky I have the 4th generation because it a lot looks better, I think not, they both look ugly compare to other cars like civic,grandprix...
My parents think the maxima is ok looking too, and hte 5th generation ugly, so far I only know a woman that likes the 5th generationis my grandma, who loves buick,cadillac, avalon, old ppls car...

my father just recently bought a new WRX sedan with a 5 speed transmission. the thing is super smooth on acceleration. after 3,000rpms or so, it feels like a freight train is pushing you from behind. however, i love the way my maxima has torque from low rpms! you just can't roll out at 10mph and mash the pedal like you can on the maxima! maybe i just like hearing the roar of my intake. but yes, the WRX does feel faster once its on the boost. and everything about the little sube (handling, braking, steering feel, shifter feel)is better than a stock or in my case, a lightly modded maxima. i need more mods!

 

the wrx guys say that the 0mph-100mph time for the max is faster than the suburu,is that true?

 

If this is true, the Max is truly an incredible car.

 

The WRX may be faster, but I still say the Max is a better car. The WRX is small, unrefined, and a bit ugly. The 02' Max and 02' Altima will be able to take it without much work.

have you looked at the mods to the wrx to get that quarter mile time. My god the guy even changed out the stock turbo.

 

Alot of mods...? thats just the tip of the iceberg... why are so many people so stubborn as to the fact this is one fast car, with mods there going to be in low 12's .......hell 11's are posissible some respect

 

If you go and read some of the post on i board you will see that guys there dont think this car is very fast for all the mods done to it. As for pulling 11's out of it, that will NEVER happen on the stock tranny. This is the weakest part of the whole drivetrain. P.S. he also had to run race gas to get 13.3. Not very practical for a street racer.

who said anything about a stock tranny? of course its going to be upgraded just like any car planning on doing 12's , imagine if he sprayed too? besides turbo mods whats he got? a stock impreza with a panel filter, thats not alot.........

 

i raced one last night from a dead stop ,by 2nd gear i had a full car on him then i slow down(city street 1:00am) and he keeps going,we talk at the next light and as i suspected he had no idea how to launch the car ,also the 0-100mph for both cars are around 16.9 ,perhaps from a roll we have a better chance.

 

You dont have to upgrade trannys on any car to do 12's. Look at the dsm cars. I had a talon that was low 13's never had a tranny prob. Or if you really want a fast car you could just buy one from the dealer. The z06 does 12.9's on the stock tranny.

 

You got some good mods so that would help as well. Do you have a drop in k&n or an Oscai? You showed everyone here questioning that a WRX can be beat by a Max. People live in magazine world but when it comes right down to the street it is the driver as long as the two cars are comparable in performance. I'm sure you would rip a lot better than a 16.9 with your mods!

As always, it comes down to how much $$ one is willing to spend.

 

You guys are WAY into speed and I don't get it... you're forgetting one thing, the WRX is BUTT UGLY. I see them driving around once in awhile and I walked by one downtown today and looked up close , even the inside is lame and ugly.

Even If its faster then a max, who cares? I'd much rather drive a stylish looking car then a eyesore like the WRX. It's not like the max is big and slow anyway, it's the best of both worlds..but you guys who are so into these 1/4 mile times and dropping tons of $ to drop milleseconds off your time, why? What makes you do this? Who are you trying to impress? Do you walk up to girls and tell them how fast your 1/4 mile is? Are you trying to live your life through you car, "My car is fastest therefore I'm the best."

What's the mentality behind that?

You have got to be kidding. I guess the 5th Gen never appealed to you but it's ok cuz that's your opinion. I'll be honest with you, I get alot of compliments about my car. It's pretty much stock except for the tint but everyone likes it. When I 1st bought it (still had the temp plates on) I was driving through heavy traffic in Midtown NYC, twice people stared and said "nice car". I personally was surprised that they even said that considering my car was still in stock form. That just goes to show that other people aside from your Grandma (no disrespect intended) appreciate the look of the 5th Gen Max

Then one Q? What exactly kind of car that can make you happy? Why did you decided to have a Max? I love my max eventhough there are some minor cosmetic and performance of the Max that I do not like but overall it's a great car.

 

parents brought maxima, I'm driving it now, and I love my max too, got tons of low end torque and pretty good high end, only thing I hate is the supension and only thing that I don't like but can live with is the styling. If you put an BMW M5 engine and the whole supension system in an pontiac aztek I'll gladly take it, I don't really care for styling. As for cars that I think looks good are :02 altima, skyline GT-R,G35,WRX,STi,Lancer evo 7, vw jetta, vw passat,audi A4,lexus IS300,GS300/400,LS430, pretty much every new MB except M class, and BMW 3 and 5 series,Acura TL-S and MDX ... and a whole bunch more I cna't think of now

 

haha yeah. why in the world did they redesign the headlights. the previous WRX was easy on the eyes... lancer evo looks pretty sweet tho, if they do decide to export to the US, hope they don't make it a fugly beast.
