New Maxima, Altima, Skyline....

got this info from my work (major car electronics manufacturer)....:

they are currently manufacturing the new Altima (anyone seen a pic?)

next year, they will begin manufacturing a 2-door Altima sometime in June/July.

at the same time, they will begin manufacturing the new Maxima as well.

and dont look for the new GTR until mid 2008 ...i couldnt even find any schedules to prove that the car will ship to the US (legally). they plan to begin making that car as early as january 1, 2008.

they plan to make the new altima and maxima until late december of 2010.

if anyone wants to know about another car, let me know...you know they plan to keep building the same Mustang until 2011!? its like the new foxbody, lol.

2 door altima sounds nice... sorta like the 2 door accord. cant wait to see that. I think Nissan has not had a large coupe for a while... or have they even had a large sized coupe? only coupes that I could think of are the 300zx, 240sx, and 200sx.

I'd be interesting .....an Altima coupe would compete nicely with the G6 GTP and Honda Accord coupes.....

What Nissan (should ) do is offer a hardtop convertible......there hasn't been a 4 seat Nissan convertible since the S13 240 sx......

I he means they'll start building the new Max next year... so maybe the new model will be 2008?

I work at a Nissan dealership and I haven't heard anything about the 2-door Altima or the new Max. If they were going to make the Altima a 2-door and manufacturing the new Maxima, the dealers would of known it by now.

There have been some talk about 2 door Altima for a little while now with the newly modified platform, possibly an '08 model; 7th gen Maxima will be an '09 model.

+1 there RH! As for the GT-R, from Nissan's website:

"the Nissan GT-R is go. The production version will make its world debut at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. It will go on sale in Japan in Fall 2007. U.S. and Canada will follow in Spring 2008"

watch out...couple o pictures here...

major= electronics (telecommunications)
job= ECU, SRS, ABS, TC....

ill check on the gx470 and the 4runner....toyota doesnt like us because we make more money off of honda, lol after what ive seen, my next car just may be an acura...honda is very picky about things (and rightfully so).

obviously, they havent settled on the maxima's new look...or engine. they still have another year. they just released the altima's new image in May of this year, guys...

as for the maxima, it says they will start producing the new maxima in mid 2007. i wouldnt be surprised if they scrap that idea (meaning holding off until 2008) and run the 2nd version of the 6th gen for an extra year like they did with the 3rd gen when they made a few changes to the style and added the ve30de...im just going by the paperwork that i have and it says START OF PRODUCTION: 6/30/2007; END OF PRODUCTION: 12/31/2010...says the same exact thing for the "Altima Coupe" as it is named. These are all US-made, US-spec, and US-sold cars.

The '07 Altima sedan pics have already been released on nissans website for quite some time now. That's nothing new.
Also, Nissan already released pics of the 2007 Maxima , it's a redesigned 6th gen. That is old news as well.
The GTR being released in the US in 2008 is also not new news. It was released a few months back by Goshn himself.

You might want to get more updated info. The only "new" news would be seing pics of the upcoming Altima coupe.

Nissan delaerships are not always the first in line to receive this info. I went to the local Nissan dealer here a few months ago to see if they had the new Sentra brochures. He handed me a B15 Sentra brochure. I said, "No, the new one" and he had no clue what I was referring to.

My father works for a company that provides hydraulic assisted ergonomic semi-robotic arms to several car mfg's. Nissan is his major customer. He told me about Nissan designing the 2 door Altima almost 1 year ago. He had no definate mfg dates but he told me the code name for the design. Let me ask him again, because I can not recall what it was.

yeah I don't see why the dealers would be the first ones to know anything.. what does Nissan care if the dealer knows 2 years in advance? When I worked at a local Ford dealership, the dealer was usually notified a week in advance if there was a new car coming in..one week, that's all. The salespeople would be all over the first car in trying to learn all they could about it. I'd trust the manufacturers over anyone else.. they're the one's building prototypes and re-jigging assembly lines for new parts.

i've often found that dealers don't know as much as you think they should, at least the sales people.

They really don't... no offense to anyone who's a salesperson, my experience though is that the salespeople (most of them anyway) know just enough to make a car look attractive to the buyer...doesn't instill much confidence.

dont take it personal, but dealers dont know anything,(personal experience) in fact thats the last place i would go to ask a question about my car

(the last thing you want to hear from a nissan sales guy is that a maxima comes with an inline 4, ))

I am in really tight with the owner of the dealership I am working at and word I got from him is that the middle of 2008 is when we will see the GTR's debut here in the states. How true or accurate that is - I don't know but he usually is on point about things like this. Alot can change between now and then so there really is no telling. I'm one of the more knowledgable salesman and I wil even agree that most salesmen don't usually know what is going on.

this sounds like a load of bunk to me. we're only 1 year from an altima coupe? Where's the spy photos?

7th gen maxima will prolly look alot of the same in front. My guess is corporate T-grille (a la 07 Altima) 6.5gen lower front facia, no more manual tranny period, if trends keep up we'll be seeing 19s, and the VQ will prolly be bumped to 3.8L to accomidate over 300hp without tuning it too much over it's current form. keep an eye on the revisions done to the 3.5 for the 07 altima/G35 for a clue as to what we can expect from the future VQ, and more than likely im guessing we're going to get some form of ATTESSA II to pull it in line with the GT-R (which, BTW, will likely become the new Flagship)

Expect an MSRP approaching $40k for an SE

I hope im wrong, at least in the tranny and MSRP departments. Retaining flagship status would be nice but im doubtful.

platform is either going to be the replacement to the FF-L (Altima, Murano, Quest) a revised and updated FM platform, (beacuse by this time the 350z will be on some form of "GT-R Lite" platform, and the G35 will have moved upmarket) or we may luck out totally and they'll see the development track and time tables, and say "heck, lets adapt the GT-R pinnings for our latest-generation Flagship"

yeah right...

In my post above (#11) I quoted straight from the Nissan website, from Goshn's press release...

"the Nissan GT-R is go. The production version will make its world debut at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. It will go on sale in Japan in Fall 2007. U.S. and Canada will follow in Spring 2008"

Agreed, I posted this in the 6th gen forum after I went to the dealer to check out the '07, clueless (at least this guy was)

The guys working there had no idea about all the changes for '07. I pretty much told him. I said it sucks with no more 6 speeds, and he assured me that they are still available. He also thought I was running the '07 front bumper on my car (redlinemax) he asked how I got on so fast. And asked if I had 18's or 20's on my car. Seems like if you worked at a dealer you'd be able to spot basic mods like this! He asked how I fit 20's on there without rubbing, he was telling me you can't put 20's on. He said he had one stock height with 20's and they stuck out in the rear and constantly rubbed. I asked how wide they wheels were and he said "oh they had a deep lip on them"

Just thought I'd share...

ill TRY to make this short....
they have been weighing out the pros and cons of the altima coupe...this is a no brainer...what other 2 door do they have and how many of its purchasers will go to the safer, front wheel altima? or how many will stay with rwd? or will they turbo it just to give it an edge over the altima coupe (keeping yourself in business gets expensive)? the 3.5 is reserved for the bigger boys...nissan feels that the altima might need to shed some weight and create its own concept, since its practically taking prospective maxima customers with its fuel economy, sporty look, and options. good for altima, bad for maxima, ugly for nissan (they would rather sell 5 maximas at $30K than 6 altimas at $25k...thats called capital loss...because they are losing more materials for the same price).

all i have is what nissan says that they are going to build and when. just thought i would share it. its still on the document, so im gonna keep rooting for my altima coupe. btw, i do not like the awd on the gtr; its SUPPOSED to drift.

anyway, for the toyotas....

i remember when they told me there was no way that i could figure out my keypad code without the original code...

too bad its beside the glovebox on the security control device, LOL. does this mean that we are more qualified to work on nissans?.....an ASE cert only costs like, what...$50...? oh..yes, you have to pass the ****ty quiz, too. most techs get their certs just so that they can change oil for $7 an hour.

i had a dealer try to sell me an Intrigue...he said he had an "Integra.".. I was like "awesome" until i saw the $8k piece of aluminum with burnt oil all over the rear engine head. and then a few days later, i bought my maxima

only time my tire ever rubbed was after i bent the inner splash guard and fender on my front passenger tire...after it broke off from the rotor (i had been doing some pretty stupid driving a few nights beforehand) and held that side of the car up, LOL. that was a nice cheap fix (easy out broken studs, replace). bet they would have charged $300 to do that.....

i love Renault, but stay with Nissan...and wait for a Z

Infinitis are overpriced luxury cars that use Nissan's performance as a marketing scheme

Ford is currently in a slump and losing money, im not suprised the stang will go till 2011. I would h ope then they do something completely different...the retro thing is cool..but they should do something more futuristic.

Alex - What about Chevy and the Camaro? Are they seriously going to do anything with that, and will we ever see a rebirth of the Firebird?!?

wow, the new Altima is f-ing ugly, except for the headlights stolen off the G35. Nissan going for the three-peat in ugly 4-door sedans i guess.

Guess I'll be going to the European cars for my next sedan.

welp, I've just seen the new Altima coupe here in Tempe, AZ a few days ago. It was all tarped up, but I followed it around for a bit. From what I could tell it looks like the new 4 door, but with two doors. I like the interior, reminds me of the 350Z. and it's about the same size of the Toyota Solara. The Nismo version should be sweet!

i havent heard anything about the new altima, ive heard stuff about the GTR though. From what ive heard it is coming to north america/canada. And only 2 people in each dealership are allowed to drive them.

I also agree about the salesmen knowing absolutly nothing. I am around them all day and all they know is stuff that sounds good to the customer. Other then that i find that 95% of them know nothing. I overheard some salesmen today talking about VDC and what it does, he said if the car is on 2 wheels it will prevent it from tipping over and when he was trying to explain nissan's continuously variable valve timing i think maybe 1 thing made sense that came out of his mouth and that was that its related to the engine

Yeah, the driver was just cruising around town with it. I actually saw it twice in the same area. I was picking up a friend, and on the way to his house I saw it the first time, I saw it from behind, pulled up next to it, then passed it. Then once again after I left his house, which was just two blocks from where I saw it the first time, and where it turned off. It was pulling out of a gas station, where again i was next to it for a few blocks, so yeah I was close enough to see the inside too. Yeah I was killing my self to have had a cam phone or somthin with me. I know how some of you guys like to call B.S. on just about anything remotely more possible than you can conceive.

No, it's not that we just like to call BS at the drop of a dime, it's just when some noob starts posting that he's seen a car that noone has spy photos of just crusing around where you live it's kind of hard for us to believe. I mean hell it could be Irish or E55 posting and we'd say the same, so don't take it personally.

The last few I remember were the Kia Sportage before it was redesigned for the first time, and almost couple months ago, the new Chevy/GMC 1500/2500 series truck that I just saw photos of in Motor Trend for next years model and a large sedan, don't know what that one was, too much traffic. It's not uncommon for the public to see these kinds of vehicles on the roads before an Editor of a magazine does and then publish it for the next months issue, so hear it from someone on the street's, see it yourself or read it in a magazine. Just cause I don't work for Motor Trend or another mag, doesn't mean my eye's are not creditable for seeing what I see. But it was unmistakably a Nissan. The tails were wrapped up, but what was exposed looked like shrunken maxima tails. I think I saw dual exhaust too, which would lead me to believe that was a 4 cylinder model, since Nissan is advertising the new Altima 4 CYL with duals. The dash looked like the new '07, most notable were the triple pod display gauges in the center. and the grill was left exposed but debagged and does look like the '07 one. So it sure as hell was not a new Solara, and I don't know of any other manufacturers that are redoing a coupe, besides the new Hundai Tiburon which isn't as big. GO NISSAN! This will be the first alternative to the 350 Z. This one should be sweet. I can just see it now, black, lowered and with gold Grahm lights and a Stillen kit and maybe soon a turbo kit ohhhhh I could just go on!
