Why???

Ok...so everytime I go to the mall or food shopping I park my Max all by it's self...far, far away from everyone else in the farthest spot possible, and yes it's a longer walk for me but I rather walk longer then have dings all over my Max. So I do this to keep my Max ding and scratch free for as long as I can. (My Max is 2 months old). and 9 out of 10 times when I come back out there will ALWAYS be someone parked right next to me. WHY?!?!?

I mean come on!!! There are a hundred other spots that are closer and you have to park right next to my lonely car. It's lonely for a reason!!!

Why do people do that???

You know what I mean???

Sometimes a nice car, sometimes a beater.

Sometimes is a soccer mom with like a twenty kids coming out of the big SUV.

Has this happend to everyone else? or am I just too paranoid of getting a nasty ding on my Max?

Three reasons that I can think of;

1) People do this because they have no respect, for themselves or others...or they are just ****wads. I had a 1963 Impala that I used to show back in '86. I parked it like that, way at the end of the lot, and when I came out some jerk had not only parked next to my car but very close. The bad thing for him is that he was still in his car. After the fist to the face I bet he showed respect to others after that.

2) Or it is someone who really likes your car and thinks that they want to be associated with it, because it makes them feel better about their car.

3) Or they also do not want dings and they know that you will not ding their car.

In all three cases, they just don't get it.

What chaps my hide even more is the people that key cars. What did the car do to you? Luckily it hasn't happened to me but to friends' cars.

Well said...

Now for someone that keys some other person's car in my on personal opinion should be dealt with in one of these ways if not all!!!

1) Severe beat down.
2) Have their hands and fingers broken.
3) Be stoned until all the bones in their body are broken.

Keying someone's car is a cowardly thing to do because the car can't hit back. This is a saying that my parents used to tell me when I was a little kid, "Do to others as you would want done to you, because what goes around comes around." You see what I'm getting at? Karma always catches up with you.

lol....

I have given up on the parking way far away....thankfully I've only had one door ding because of it and it was easily removed by paintless dent removal.

Well put.

I think people who key a car should get a beat down but not fingers broken...I save that for lowlife thieves that steal car stereos.

in my parking garage at work, it's pretty crowded and it's the only place to park at our building....the spots are just barely wider than a maxima and people always jam big SUVs in them....

So when I get there, there are usually only single spots out there, so I find the two nicest cars I can find and park between them (leaving room for me/them to get out as much as possible). The guy in the Jag is far less likely to ding my door than some guy in a beat-up pickup (or ANYONE in an SUV)...

I've seen this before, i feel your frustration. Some people might pick the spot next to your car beacuse its easier to align their car perfectly when theres a physical 3d object in a spot, rather than trying to go in the middle of 2 lines painted on the ground.

its like when you're backing into a space, its way easier to back into a space right next to a car or in between 2 and be perfectly in line rather than using just the lines. at least its easier for me. so i guess it qualifies as just 'laziness'

I can relate... and it usually is a rice beater. Its happened to me where I park far and then when I get out.... theres a car with a body kit or rims parked next to mine... its like they park next to you to compete.

i think next time... i'll leave a note that says... mine's better than yours!

I park normally (i.e. not close or anything, in the middle of my spot) next to people way out there like that sometimes, just because it's funny. You know when they come out they're going to be like, wtf?

This is what I do. Or I do sometimes park far away. One time at work, I parked normally, and some stupid ***** gets out of the passener side of her car and nails my driver side door HARD. The dent is NASTY. Im gonna get it removed.

I take up two spaces on a regular basis. If you can hit my car from four feet away then you have got some real talent.

I can't stand people who take up two spaces in a busy parking lot. If the whole place is empty, and its not a high traffic area, then sure.. but at sports events etc. basically anything were parking is going to be real tight, if I see anyone taking up two spaces I get really mad. At the very least I leave them a nice loogie on their car as a thank you for their consideration towards others.

I know people who mess with (not damage) mirrors and wipers for parking like an idiot.

My first car ever parked way out far, nothing impressive just new. Some idiot parked next to mine and dinged it! I took out the old crowbar and using the pointy tip rammed it thorough the door so I can see it comming out the drivers side inside the car. Then I jammed it up and down. Once i was done it left a nice 3- 4 inch hole. I am sure they respect other peoples property after that...

And you guys yell at me for taking up two spaces at the grocery store or the mall. What I'm doing is NOT illegal and there is nothing wrong with it. Yet you think it's funny that someone jams a crowbar into another persons vehicle. I think you better rethink your morals and ethics.

I think the crow bar is a little hypocritical. You get upset over a door ding then cause damage beyond that?

It would be terrible if the person who parked next to you didn't actually ding your car, and they come out and see a gaping hole in theirs. But that would probably be the last time they parked next to someone in the rear of the parking lot.

I made sure that I got a parking spot between two of my friends at school. Last year I got a door ding from someone (well actually a ding, and they managed to crack my side molding a little). All I could think of was why they needed to throw their doors open so fast and carelessly. I moved to the back of the parking lot after that. Shoulda parked next to the kid with the lambo doors haha.

Well., I hate this with the passion... I commute to work and have to drive to the train station in the mornings where I leave the car parked for the better part of the day. I've had my 01 Max SE for 2 months. Bought it with NOT ONE scratch, not one ding.

I park it in the back of the parking lot and walk alot more because of it. No one ever parks next to me., and one day this Accord parked next to me. Not parked right next to me., but slanted. First thing I see., a ding... Thankfully it was on the molding. Still pissed me off. ONE HUNDRED spots empty. Why park to the only car in the FAR corner. Next day same thing, just no ding.

I now park in between a JGC and a BMW Z4...

I never said it was funny, I was pissed! there was tons of open spaces and yet this @ss decides to park by me and ding my car! and it was him! my paint on his door!
and remember very 1st new car! it wasn't even a month old when it happened. When i think back I should have put the hole over the drivers side roof.

People like you are exactly why my and my family left chicago last year. Everyone is always running around pissed off with a sense of entitlement. Even if he did ding your car there is not excuse for what you did. And taking of all the lugs on all the tires is attempted murder if you weren't aware.

If the lot has open spaces I see no problem with a person parking at an angle, taking up two spaces at the end of the lot. He is not inconveniencing anyone, just protecting a car that he loves.

Now if the lot is full, or he is in the front row, that is a different story.

And causing damage to another persons' car is chicken-****. If you are pissed enough to want to do something, be a man and face the person. The car did nothing, the owner did.

So we got some winners in here giving the 6th gen croud a great rep. Just because someone dents your door out of carelessness doesnt mean you have to be an asshat and do something twice as bad.

I usually park at the top of a hill if the lot is that way to keep the carts from running into it with the wind or at the back by myself. I don't like the cars that take two spots and have had friends say they would key the car that took two spots, I don't belive in that. If i knew they dented my car on purpose. Then i would bust thiers up. My car means more to me then most peoples lives do.
