is it possible that you can get pulled over....

by having blue or clear bulbs in your front signals.....?
I know the law requires amber only but can you change it to blue or clear and be safe?

I'd say it depends on how **** the cop is who's pulling you over. There are cops around me who pull over people for illegal exhaust, tint that's too dark, no front license plate (need that in VA, and on the dash doesn't count from what I've heard), and other cops who were asleep in the center median. It just depends...I'd stay on the safe side though and leave the ambers in there.

don't trust this guy ^^^ I've never seen him in Fairfax anywhere

To answer your question: YES, it is illegal to have blue or clear bulbs. Of course some locales will let it "slide" more, but the fact remains that if you have them, you run the risk of getting a ticket.

Plus, they just look

if you're worried about what they look like when "off"...just pull the amber bulbs out and put a thin coat of silver spray paint on them. Then put them back in. During the day they'll look like "clears" when unlit, but when lit they'll still flash amber.

C.V.C. 24953. (a) Any turn signal system used to give a signal of
intention to turn right or left shall project a flashing white or
amber light visible to the front and a flashing red or amber light
visible to the rear.
(b) Side-mounted turn signal lamps projecting a flashing amber
light to either side may be used to supplement the front and rear
turn signals. Side-mounted turn signal lamps mounted to the rear of
the center of the vehicle may project a flashing red light no part of
which shall be visible from the front.
(c) In addition to any required turn signal lamps, any vehicle may
be equipped with supplemental rear turn signal lamps mounted to the
rear of the rearmost portion of the driver's seat in its rearmost
position.
(d) In addition to any required or authorized turn signal lamps,
any vehicle may be equipped with supplemental rear turn signal lamps
that are mounted on, or are an integral portion of, the outside
rearview mirrors, so long as the lamps flash simultaneously with the
rear turn signal lamps, the light emitted from the lamps is projected
only to the rear of the vehicle and is not visible to the driver
under normal operating conditions, except for a visual indicator
designed to allow monitoring of lamp operation, and the lamps do not
project a glaring light.

It really depends on how much of an @$$ hole the cop is, if he is having a bad day then clears are going to get you pulled over, if however he is happy as a mouse then they might let it slide.

When I put in my clear corners I never changed the lights. I need to put the ambers in, I haven't had a problem so far.

Clear lenses (red/clears, clear bumper lights) are one thing - but blue bulbs just look tacky and shameful.

odd...there are several locals who are frequently on the org.
Soonerfan (Burke) - black 5th gen
me (Burke) - black 5th gen
Puppetmaster (Fairfax, literally right across the street from Circuit City) - blue 5th gen
Icelandmaxima (Burke) - white 5th gen
Cutler (Fairfax near Tower Records) - though he drives a Miata and an Accord now...

all dropped, I'm the only one with non-stock wheels though.

and a few others (mostly 5th gens)...we've been known to use the patriot center parking lot to do photoshoots

I went to GMU myself (graduated in '99) and Joel (Puppetmaster) is in grad school there.

You living on campus, or in KPW? I had a couple of houses right on the other side of Braddock rd...

Anyhow, see you around.

I'm on campus (Dominion...I get to look out my window and watch lazy construction workers do nothing). I've seen plenty of 4th/5th gens, but except for one very clean dark colored 5th gen (it was night, so I couldn't tell you exactly what color) they were all beaten up rather badly....like tail lights broken and then taped over with red tape, or bashed out fogs in front.

I look forward to meeting all you guys at the meet on the 23rd.

I know that in Michigan, the only legally acceptable "colors" for the front of the vehicle is clear and amber. For the back it's red and amber. And from what I've seen, it's not entirely uncommon for the police to pull you over because you have blue lights (hell, I've heard some of them going as far as to say you're impersonating a police officier with your blue lights).

hater....

u can relate to this one, Josh: FFX cops were hanging out at the toll booths a few years back, and i was a day late updating my inspection sticker; so the cop gave me a ticket for that, and pointed out that my bulbs were blue, but did not write me up for that. the blue bulbs still remain, and have had no issues from law enforcement since then. of course, i switch them out to pass inspection...
