Dash kit performance in hot weather climates?

Has anyone installed a dashkit on their max in a hot weather climate like TX? I'm curious as to weather or not the 3M foam adhesive generally used on these kits will hold up to +100 degree weather in the summer..

the adheisve usually holds up from what i've seen, but the kits generally don't. more specifically, the layer between the actual faux-wood part and the clear plastic covering it starts to peal apart creating bubbles. dash kits ftl. i've actually decided not to any car with any dash kits cause it always seems to happen. (i work at a shop, and every dash kit i've seen does it)

Very interesting. Does this apply to both kits finished with epoxy on top and the ones with higher quality polyurethane finishes? Glad I asked before buying the kit..

The real reason that these kits fail is because no one properly prepares the surface upon which the adhesive will be attached. Proper preparation prevents p'iss poor performance...or something like that.[/thread]

But that refers to teh adhesive not sticking to the dash properly due to grease or dirt or whatever being on the surface.. not the bubling refered to in the post above. I would actually spend the time necessaryt o properly prep teh surfaces, but the bubbling is not something I can control, if indeed it occurs in all types of these dashkits... epoxy finished vs polyurethane etc.

I was reading through the gd threads and there is an offer for the dash kits with a lifetime warranty. It protects against the bubbling, cracking etc. Go for it if that's what you want. That, or you could just paint it out and save yourself the headache.

Get a windshield sun screen. It protects your dash, helps keep the car cooler which helps the A/C cool down your car quicker, it also keep your leather seats from burning your legs and it only costs about 9 bucks.

That Texas sun will murder any interrior over time, stock or aftermarket.

I've had carbon fiber in my car for probably 6 years or so and had no problems with it bubbling at all. In a few corners, it started to come up but I just put some more adhesive behind it and that took care of it.
I got the Joshua Tree kit (www.woodtrim.com). It's not cheap, but much better quality than any others I've seen in person
