GAH! car broken into

Luckily, not the Maxima, though. It was my 240SX that has been sitting at the back of my gf's apartment parking lot for the past few months. Probably some freakin idiotic kids thought it would be cool to bust the driver side window and break in. I had two pretty nice rims in there, and a set of headers and exhaust for my other project(Chevy Nova), but none of it was taken.

I didn't have a radio, subs, amps, CD's, anything of value other than what I listed, and they left that stuff alone. Pretty retarded huh? I don't think they broke the window just to vandalize it because it wasn't keyed and they didn't slash the tires or rip up the seats or anything. My guess is they broke the window and started to get in and something spooked them so they ran off, or they just realized they couldn't carry such heavy stuff w/out being obvious. Ah well, the worst part is besides having to replace the window and clean up all the glass is keeping the interior dry if it rains.

How much does it cost typically to replace a side window anyway? I know windshields can get pretty expensive but I figure a side window is less glass so it shouldn't cost as much. Anyway now I definitely want to get my alarm fixed on my Maxi to stop anyone if not from breaking in then at least from stealing anything valuable.

Thats bad luck. Similarly, someone broken into my old '87 Mitsubishi through the drivers window when it was parked out the front of my house. The only thing that was missing from my car the next morning was a dodgy $10 pair of sunglasses!

In terms of cost, I know it cost me about $30 to get a drivers window from a wrecking yard, and that's for a fairly common car down in these parts. I'm guessing a brand-new one from a dealer would cost considerably more. Couple of hours installing later and the thing was as good as new.

Straight after that happened I had an alarm installed!

i second that! (except for the part about not caring for 6th gens, lol)

the Australian maxima has a bunch of subtle styling changes from the north-american version, i just love it! Any chance i could see some more pictures?

You should be able to find 240 windows at a junk yard. Replace it yourself and save some $$.

I'm sure you won't have a problem finding parts for that car.
