Can this be done?

A lot of 5th genners are struggling to solve the P0430. Can any of the companies that make aftermarket exhaust to Maximas fabricate a piece that would replace the Bank 2?

The OEM piece is just ridiculously overpriced and junkyards will not sell because of some law not allowing to sell used emissions components.

I've seen one on Ebay before, don't have the link handy.

Just search for maxima catalytic converter.

do you even know what P0430 stand for? It has nothing to do with a y-pipe, its the precat part on the other side of the main cat

If your talking about precats then a y-pipe would affect it as 5th gen (00-01) are on the y pipes.

this is what it means..

CausesA code P0430 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

The catalytic converter is no longer functioning properly
An oxygen sensor is not reading (functioning) properly
There is an exhaust leak

dude i own a cali spec maxima which is no different than your 5th gen. I did a fed spec conversion to get rid of this code and the front precat. SO that means my car used to have a front pre cat that was not a part of the y pipe. Now it doesn't. The two downstream o2 sensors are now being simulated to do away with the P0430 code..

why even convert a cali-spec to a fed-spec if you could have just used sims to get rid of SES light?

People, please lets stay on topic. I am looking to replace my precat and trying to find the cheapest way to do so. At this point, I do not want to use sims, even though it is less costly option.

I think your best/cheap bet is going to be a Sim...

Or get headers and a Sim.

i didnt do it to get rid of the ses light.. Have you phisically taken a look at the front precat? Have you taken the precat apart? If you have then you'll know what im talking about.

45 bucks shipped gets you a low milage pre cat off my 99..

I have not taken a look @ front precat nor taken it apart...but have an idea of what it is.
My point is that that P0430 is the code for Bank 2 (front precat) and none of the 02 sensors, otherwise there would have been a different code.
I'm still debating on what should I do to fix this issue.
