I'm sorry about the pics. We are in the midst of Monsoon season and the weather is always dreary. If ya'll are interested, I can get more pics. As far as Nissan in Korea, I don't know. They don't call it Nissan or Maxima. Just SM520 with a small circular emblem. I'm assuming they didn't want to badge it as Nissan, because Korea and Japan haven't always been the best of friends. It is very popular here, especially in Seoul.
There is also a sweet commercial where the Max is driving some diplomat around and hauling **** through town. It does this jump, scares the crap out of the guy and hey tells the driver to stop. The commercial ends with him walking to whereaver he's going. Very intense and made me cry like a little school girl.
Enjoy

Those tails won't fit our cars. The maker of that car is Samsung Motors, who makes the 4th gen under license from Nissan. Take a look...

Weasel: Thanks dude. I didn't have a clue who made it. Thats funny, especially since everything is made by Hyundai, LG, Samsung and Daewoo. They're like the 4 dons of Korea.
MadXKilla: Sorry dude I'm not Korean. I'm a half Taiwanese guy temporarily living in Korea.
There is actually a Samsung Maxima that looks closer to the I30(which theblue posted) and one that is similar to the Maxima. The pics I posted are closer to the Maxima. Sooner or later, the Koreans will be on equal grounds with the Japanese. They are starting to build some sweet rides.
As far as the overall look, it is more sleeper(ie yawn) than the 95-96 body style. It's closer to the German Maxima VG(VE or something) styling. I'll take some pics of one that isn't moving.

yea its a license built version of the Nissan Cefiro yea by Samsung, due to the import duties the korean gov has to prevent foreign products to be sold in the country, its the only way companies like Nissan can get a foothold in the auto market- its really sad in korea, haha like they dont even have civics, all you see is souped up mini cars like the accent, and because the market is so small for performance parts, they look horrible and have horrible performance... the nicest cars they have are Hyundai Tiburons - doesnt that say something?
actually they do have decent luxury cars over there, the Ssyang Song Chairmans have Mercedes Benz 2.8L V6 and 3.2L V6s, and their SUVs have it also
In Taiwan alot of Taxis are Cefiros (with clear tails that look alot better than ours), some all pimped up with surround sound VCD players and everything... there are also new Mercedes Benz E-Class taxis, Subaru Impreza WRX taxis, and even a couple of souped up BMW 328s and M3s
the reason? rich land owners and their kids have nothing to do except drive taxis =) hahaha

Good info. Maybe after the upcoming Korea/Japan World Cup, the two countries will open up to each other. I think the Koreans are underestimated as far as their ability to produce superior products. They were treated like **** for most of the 1900s, and yet they still are trying to come out swinging. They'll tople the Japanese dominated world of Asian exports...
