Maxima vs. Taurus SHO

1992-1994 Maxima GXE engine specs- iron block/aluminum head 60degree VG30E 3.0L SOHC 12 valve V6 160hp@5,200rpms and 182tq@2,800rpms. Redline is 6,000rpms. This is the last Maxima that Nissan doesn't recommend using premium fuel. All come with auto's.
1992-1994 Maxima SE engine specs-aluminum block/head 60degree VE30DE 3.0L DOHC 24 valve V6 with Variable Valve Timming and dual plentum intake (5speed only). This engine made 190hp@5,600rpms and 190tq@4,000rpms. This engine has a bad history of failed VTC sprockets. I could never understand which was the redline for the 3rd generation SE maxima's. Is it the slotted bar or the solid bar? If it is the slotted bar, the redline is 6,600rpms. But if its the solid bar, it is at 7,000rpms
1992 Maxima's got redesigned front and rear fascia's as well as an upgraded SE engine. Sunroof for the SE model was dropped off the standard list.
1993 Maxima's got an upgraded Bose system with CD player. 4speakers are powered by seperate 4 50watt amps. Driver side airbag became standard.
1994 final year for the 3rd generation. This year, the SE's seem to have less VTC failures. This is also the only year to offer a blue (Neptune blue?) color.
1995 got a redesign. A multi-link beam axle replaces the rear chapman struts. Front struts remain. The body was smoothed out. 1995-1999 is known as the 4th generation. The engine is a 60 degree VQ30DE 3.0L 24valve V6 making 190HP@5,600rpms and 205tq@4,000rpms. Some say this year was the fastest 4th generation Maxima since some were equiped with OBDI. Believe who you want on this. I'm not sure myself. Just about everything got upgraded with this model.
Any correct me if I'm wrong. Its 2:40a.m. and I do not want to give out the wrong information.

I have never had a chance to run one. I have been been on their forum. Some of those boys have got some 1/4 mile times that are very good. Check out their site.
