Engineering Problem Statement... any ideas???

I am currently in one of the engineering classes offered at my high school (design and development), and I need to come up with a problem statement. This means that I need to invent or innovate anything that will fix a problem. I wanted to do something with cars (whether its involving a maxima or not), but I thought it would be cool to do something that I know many fellow Maxima owners would like done also. The project involves proving that it hasn't been done yet, drawing the design on a 3D drawing software (Autodesk Inventor), and finally, making the invention/innovation (it has to be something that I could actually make). So... if you have ANY ideas.. post them!!

thanks for the help.

How original does it have to be? Does it have to be something that has never ever been done before, or just something that's never been done on a Max? The first one is going to be kind of tough to do within the scope of a HS class. But if you're allowed to just adapt mods/features found on other cars, then that's infinitely more doable. There are tons of things you could do there.

Problem: Ricey cars, including 2.5 Altimas with 20s.

How about a knock sensor relocation kit? Or does that take too much work?

Ok, what about caliper brackets for BBK? I kno there's couple people that sell them here, but as far as I kno, they're not mass produced nor heavily marketed. I have no idea about patents tho, I guess u could ask. Good luck!

Stronger/more durable VTC Springs for the VE30DE, not stronger as in increase spring rate though, that would be bad.

What kind of tools/machines do you have access to? Do you have access to a CNC machine and programing? I have a feeling you won't be able to make a lot of the things people may suggest.

Heh, if you really wanted to do something cool. How about a independent rear suspension(4th gen ). Lot of work, but cool if you could pull it off.

I hate how those engineering intro type classes always seem to want to make it mechanical based when there's far more to engineering than that. How bout an ECU hack for the 99 Maxima?
