not that I'm dissapointed here. the power gain was most obvious. however, I am currently experiencing noise from the y-pipe and the RT cat!
took the y-pipe and RT cat to a shop specializing in racing cars for installation. also bought new hardware as per Greg P's website...gaskets, crush rings, bolts, nuts...the works.

have been driving the car, its awesome but there is buzzing noise from underneath the car...and if I put the car in park or neutral and rev it...my exhaust sounds really hollow and metallic (like bees in can buzzing!)

wonder if its got to do with my universal muffler thats causing the sound or is the y-pipe not seated properly?

anyways, since courtesy nissan is back ordered for their b-pipe...I might get a custom one made right to my muffler.

pls advise on noise from the y-pipe! thanks...

*it does sound cool, almost like a V8 under my hood (mustang / M3 with full race downpipe...etc) but nothing close to what I'm reading on this forum about it being quite!

it's normal... the guage of metal used is thinner..... thus you are hearing the exhaust hitting the side of the pipe.

nothing is wrong.

Hi there. The SS Y-Pipe with stock muffler and B-Pipe should make a LITTLE bit of bees in a can noise on acceleration, but should be SILENT at cruise. If you are getting excessive noise (excessive is subjective) then something may not be right.

I noticed that when I had KOOKS modify my RT cat flanges (they welded on new permanent flanges) my SS Y-Pipe/Courtesy B-Pipe combo got even quieter to the point where it is tough to tell the exhaust is even aftermarket at all.

It may sound radical, but I would suggest that to eliminate leaks and quiet down the exhaust even more, have your RT cat modded with permanent flat-faced flanges and replace the rotating flanges which do not make a good seal....

GregP I got my SS but I don't have the gaskets to put it on. your site has part #z for 4th gen.. what part #s do I need for 5th Gen Fed Emissions? dealers says the 2 manifold ports uses 2 differant size gaskets? by looking at the pipe I see they are both the same size. Cattman ran out of gaskets and the lady there doesn't have the part #s for the gaskets, Stillen won't tell me the part# for their gaskets b/c they say CATTMEN is their enemy. All I need are the gaskets so I can get that pipe in. any help from any of U guys. if anyone has gaskets for 2K Fed Emi I'll buy them off Of U. Mides won't install the pipe b/c they say its against the law.

I have several extra gaskets I could send you, BUT - the part number for your gaskets is the same part number that the 4th-gen CA-spec cars (mine) user for the REAR manifold gasket. It is on my web site.

Any Nissan dealer will have this, or can get it within 3 days.

I did everything you did wrt the y-pipe and RT cat...welded fixed flanges, new hardware...etc even the speed shop owner was impressed! said I made things a lot easier for him.
anyways, at full throttle and passing my friend on the road they tell me I sound like a V8 rustang going by!

oh well, guess I'll live with the new sound...since the new power is so addictive!

The part numbers for the gaskets are on my web site in the Cattman SS pipe section. Go to a Nissan dealer and you can get them over the counter. For your 4th or 5th gen Max with Federal-spec emissions, the gaskets are the same - they are the same as the REAR manifold gasket on my car.

LOOK AT MY WEB SITE for the part numbers. You can get them from a dealer a lot faster than you can get them from me. I would give them to you for nothing.

Greg I've been on your site every day for the last week. I see the gaskets and I see they are 2 differant sizes. which is the same thing the dealer is telling me, but My pipe is only 1 size. Now Either the gaskets are wrong or I got the wrong size pipe b/c both of my manifold ports are the same size. I think I'm just gonna order 2 of the bigger ones and see if it'll fit. the dealer has to order them all, doesn't have jack in stock.

PIONEER,

I keep writing the same thing - the ring gaskets for YOUR car are the same as the one for the REAR MANIFOLD on MY car. You need two of those. The part numbers and pictures are all on my site. I put every gory detail on the site so that there is no ambiguity as to what I did or what the Nissan part numbers are for everything in my installs.

Aw, hell - you're making me actually go and check my own web site!!!! The part number you need is 20691-38U00.

You need to order TWO of them. While you are at it you should also replace the cat gasket.
