With this setup... I notice the big difference on the RPM.
Should the OD button be on or off? Or is it obsolete? Tks in advance.

depends on what conditions your driving in...when im generally driving 45mph or less i leave OD off...makes it easier if i have to gun it (no downshifting) plus less stress on the tranny...anything higher i leave OD on and let the tranny do its job...

Yea, what Christopher said.

Usually anything under 50mph or so i will pop OD on. I usually ahve it off for local driving. Remember, wear and tear.

It all depends on how you want to do it.I have been told by 2 dealers and the tranny shop that it is best to keep the OD on.Didnt get into details but I leave mine on 24/7 (But I know one thing dont leave it off after 55mph for too long it will wear your tranny fast!

Doh! typing too fast again. OD is off when 50mph and under and OD is on for above & highway use. Sorry Angie-bah.

OD should be left on (the light on the dash should be off) in most driving cases. That will allow the transmission to shift into 4th gear and you will get better fuel economy. If you are driving around 45-50 mph and the transmission seems to be indecisive in choosing between 3rd and 4th gear, then turn OD off to lock out 4th gear. Also, for those tiems when you want to pass someone , you can turn OD off to drop down a gear quickly. Turning off OD will not change your shift points or make you faster when racing. It simply locks out 4th gear.

BTW, what difference did the y-pipe/catback make on the rpms?

Hey guys- I usually leave the OD off when I'm running local (under 45mph) and during stop n go situations. But now with the new setup (y-pipe, cat converter, b-pipe), I'm noticing slightly higher RPMs than before (unless I turn the OD on, then ofcourse the RPM needle drops).

exhaust mods shoudn't affect rpm at all. The revs your car is doing at a given speed is a function of the gearing, but maybe it is different for autos vs 5 speeds? My car actually idles at a slightly lower rpm with a y-pipe/intake....i have an auto...

I'd leave it off at anything lower than 50mph. It'ss always better to cruise at a slightly higher rpm than cruise with the engine lugging. "Lugging" the engine increase cylinder load and heat. The tranny also becomes very indecisive and will unlock the torque converter then lock it, then downshift, etc. All this does is waste gas and increase heat within the tranny. Heat is the killer of automatics.

Resetting ECU

I'm riding around with the check engine light on this week I'm waiting for the shop to drill a hole in my b-pipe for o2 sensor this weekend. Should I wait till then to reset my ecu?

you might as well wait. That rear O2 sensor simply checks to see if the cat is there. if that is the only reason the light is on, then it should not have anything to do with your revs being different. But who knows? maybe it does
