Subject: Nissan A32 headers
I'm a Nissan Maxima enthusiast in the US. I found your website and I'm very interested in the headers you guys make. What kind of info can you give me? Construction, power gains, fitment etc...
I know there are lots of others like me up here too. You can check out www.maxima.org . Perhpas you could post some info there about your products for the Maxima.
Thanks,
Ben

Thankyou for your email, and your interest in our products.
Unfortunately our website is not finished and does not do our products justice yet.
I have sent an email to your editor at "maxima.org" as well.
Our extractors are "bolt on" and high quality chrome plated. They give a genuine dyno tested 12% increase and when used with our "bolt on" big bore exhaust system the combination gives a healthy 17% increase. They are a little time consuming to fit, being an east/west V6 but are
straight forward.
We also do a full range of "bolt on" components from cold air systems, strut brace, cross drilled brake rotors, brake kits, short shift gear kits, suspension etc, etc. If you are interested or I can help further then please contact me.

OK, I did a little research...
Cost of headers = $820 NZD
Shipping UPS = $980 NZD
TOTAL = $1800 NZD
Convert new zealand dollars to US dollars...
TOTAL = $731USD
That's a $730 set of dyno tested headers...

Sorry, I got my Kg to Lbs conversion backwards...
Shipping would be $400 NZD = $160 USD (assuming a 20lb package)
So, to recap:
headers $820 NZD = $328 USD
shipping $400 NZD = $160 USD
Total = $488 USD
Damn, now that's a much better deal...

Correct me if I'm wrong. They was a previous post where someone was looking for headers and couldn't find them anywhere for the max. So he spent the time to bore out the original exhaust manifolds and dynoed, no gain!! Yeah headers are great but for our VQ they are already made for maximum gain, unless of course you are running NOS or supercharged then you would need the extra room and notice a diference...
Just my $0.02

I think it was Don who did that, and he gained 0.6hp ... 0.6!!! that's worth the $480US!
I know you guys are looking for encouragement but we're definately gonna have to find a guinea pig with some loot for this project..

yes, Don did bore out the exhaust manifold, but these are made from scratch. One thing I would ask the shop is what's their definition of headers?? some people consider the Y-pipe as part of the header. ie. Comptech.

Ben, I'm in a great position to insure fitment is correct because I will be doing a motor swap the weekend of August 4th. I hope you dont mind, butI sent them and e-mail for some details too.
All other interested parties, I have an idea...
Since I'll be doing a motor swap I will be able to easily install the headers. The horse power gain will be unknown because I'll be installing a SC at the same time. But if their is any one elso out their who is VERY interested perhaps we can strike a deal.
We can order the initial set and split the cost 50% (or if their are others mabye %25 x4, etc...). I will install them and work out any fitment issues on the American Maxima. If they fit well and are usable I will then split the cost of your set with you and share any info I have on the install with you. Basicially we are splitting the risk. If they dont fit were both out half of the cost instead of all of it.

yes
We should get a parts list for everything else with prices, if these headers work i smell MASSIVE group buy on lots of stuff, their prices seem good. We could ship over 10 sets of header, brakes, lots of stuff and save on shipping and get a good price from them. let's do this.
But how many of us have the knowledge to do this ourselves? As MardiGrasMax stated, the testing has to be done. Personally, I think it isn't a great idea to test it on his car since he is going the forced induction route where we know it probably will help, it would be more useful to test it on a NA car. But since he is willing to be the guinea pig...
