I thought I'd start small, so I just ordered a FSTB and a set of front clears (cheapest and easiest to install Mods). I've got a good set of tools and good torque wrench, someone let me know if I need any other supplies.

Also this weekend, I'm having the timing chain (see my posts from a few days back about the timing chain) ,and every other part in the timing system replaced: tensioners, other chains, sprockets (if necessary) & and the water pump since they already be in there (I forgot who suggested the water pump, but thanks anyway). I'll try to get my tech to take pics of the disassembly if he's not to busy or dirty.

Let me know if anyone has any general comments. I can't wait to start improving the looks and the steering of my Pebble Biege 96 GLE.

Future Mods: Tinting: (living in Alabama + black leather)
this is a no brainer, simply must be done.

Wheels & Tires: stock GLE rims, S-rated
tires (enough said)

Paint Calipers, etc....

Hey, let me know how things go. I just bought my 97 SE and have plans to order the exact same things from Courtesy as soon as I can talk the wife into it with plans for tinting to follow or vice versa. Are you planning on doing the mods yourself? I've heard that they're not that hard, but I'm no mechanic. Where are you having the work to your car done? I'm in the process of trying to find an honest car mechanic up here in Huntsville. Do you know where you are going to go to have your windows tinted and % are you going to go for? By the way, do you know if here in Alabama we have to have the amber bulbs in the clear corner lenses? Do you know where you plan to go after these mods?

I plan on doing the mods myself (those two are really easy, although it's important to have a torque wrench for the FSTB), I haven't checked on the tinting yet though. The timing chain replacement is being done by Serra Nissan in Roebuck, AL. It comes with a 12 month parts & labor warranty.

I've had 2 previous cars tinted at Hutch Touch II in Oxford, AL. They did a really good job for $140-$150 and put the % I wanted. I've also read about this place in Birmingham. Supposedly they do a good job for $165 and the tint is machine cut:
Artistic Solar Films 205-823-8468
Let us know how things turn out.
