well i used to let my older brother drive it every once in a while until he put the front bumper into a high curb one night, had to get a new bumper.

i let my roomate who works at enterprise drive it, he says its the hardest manual hes ever driven and hes prolly right, its constant whiplash and almost stalling. other than that nobody.

Every so often I let my girlfriend take it, but that's it.

When she was shopping for a new car a few years back, I wouldn't even teach her how to drive stick in my Maxima. I made her buy her own and then taught her in that.

My mom is 43 and i let her drive it cuz she can drive a stick kinda rough but she used to own an accord with a stick...my step dad i wont let him drive it anymore because when he drives it, he revs to about 3000 or 3500rpms before he shifts, and he stays there idle...im like sh!!!!!t maan...he's used to his 89 5.0 mustang, and mustang people always wanna rev high to get all loud and ish

Tell me about it man, just this past weekend I got pulled over after a concert for a DUI sweep, which was fine, then decided after that I might as well go out drinking. So I handed over my keys to my buddy who used to drive a 5.0 mustang and now drives a 6 speed RSX, so I figured he would be okay to drive the max. Given it was a fun ride, he was constantly between 3k and 4k rpms. What a gas sink that was

and I don't even WANT to have to look at my oil level now

Oh man I was listening to car-talk one time and this lady called up and she had a 5-speed maxima, her husband used to do that and he kept telling HER she didn't know how to drive it and that she was shifting to soon, you had to hear it but the car-talk guys were ragging on her dumbass husband, it was great!

I'm married. When I had my Max ('92 SE, VE30DE) she wound up having to drive it. Always made me nervous because she's not experienced with more powerful cars. It's even worse with the Interceptor I have now. I let her drive it once and she scared the sh*t out of me. It's just a car, it can be replaced. But SHE can't.

The 6th gens tend to be 30-50 age bracket, business casual dress, on a cell phone, teetering on the road lines. The few 3rd gens I've seen around here have ALL been highschool/college age kids with systems worth more than the cars, while they weave in and out of lanes trying to get around traffic.

I let my girlfriend drive my car ONCE, and that was due to severe circumstances...her car got a flat tire and the donut she had was going flat...she was scared as HELL on I95 so i told her to take my car and i would drive hers

Oh and then my dad drove it twice, once when he took me to the dealership to pick it up, and the 2nd time when i was having an initial problem with my breaks...that was when i was on a stock brake setup.

OTHER THAN THAT HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing wrong with that, I almost always take my car to 3k before shifting. Most automatic cars will shift thereabouts as well if you plan on keeping up with NY traffic or not driving like a grandma.

But keeping it at 3k-3.5k, meaning that [for example] he will stay in 2nd while at 3k and remain there at a constant speed? Yeah that's no good, you know how much gas you are guzzling???

When the right conditions are present, such as accelerating from a stop down a very short block with a stop sign at the end, I will not even bother shifting to 3rd, because with the stop sign approaching I will only be in 3rd for a split second. So I will get to about 3k in 2nd gear and then let off the gas, letting the engine brake towards the stop sign. Nothing wrong with that as far as I know...

But I agree with keeping it at those RPMs for sustained periods of time. That's no good.

Yes I do. I don't really care about my car anymore. If I've been drinking I'll let the sober person drive me home. I don't care if my dad drives it, he knows to put premium in it. I don't let random people drive it though.

I think that if I drove an automatic then I wouldn't care as much. I just feel like my clutch is being worn prematurely so thats a big reason for not letting others hold the keys. Another reason is I try my best to avoid potholes. I feel like someone else would not case as much and probably damage a rim. On another subject matter, I feel more comfortable being in the car if I let someone drive it than to just give someone the keys to go off on their own.

My wife, as it is our car. My father test drove it before i bought it, and my sister who has an 04 mazda6s that I was considering buying something similar to. I wanted her comparison on how it felt. She said they were very close, the max was a little tighter and felt a bit stronger.
