Maxima Engine Woes...once again!!
My max has been rattling and shattering for like a month..probably the timing chain and the valves..im sick of it..i dont know how to fix it..then like for the past 2 days when i am at a light...the car starts to shudder a lot..the whole damn car shakes..i guess now i have to replace the coils or wha?man ..by the way.whats the average price to rebuild an engine...peace
Average price in ga is like around 1500 including parts. I'd go the route I did with my toyota and buy an engine from one of those used japanese engine dealers. The engine I got had 60,000 miles on it. I also got the tranny with to be safe all for 500.00. I did know the guy so I got about 400 off what he would have asked the public. Installed it myself took like 4 days started on a friday. You learn alot about your car when you do one of those installs.
I averaged about 150 extra dollars for new plug wires, fuel filter that type of stuff.
Either way I recommend putting a new used engine in over rebuilding.

First off I did have a few people help me install it I cant man a engine jack and put it in at the same time. Go rent an engine jack on the day you will put it in. Most go for 25 a day.
The bigest part is labeling everything and hooking it back up in the same place. I took a whole day take a hose of label it write in a book where it was then continue until all wires and hoses are off. Now some hoses will be obvious with no labels needed. After you stick that new engine in its the opposite of removal just follow what you wrote down and plug them back in the right places. If your lucky you'll get a long block meaning you will receive some of the componets with it such as steering pump, alternator, that kinda stuff.
I was like you a little worried at first but when I got in and after two trys is cranked what joy it was. Then take it to a mechanic pay them 50.00 to check all the bolts and vacum hoses and your set.
Where do you live I might be able to hook you up if you live in ga.
Are you're the same guy that posted a while back about his JWT ecu causing pinging? If you are and continued to drive with the car running like that, you've most likely bent the crank, toasted some bearings, screwed up some valves, etc.
